  1. I just want to add: A all healthy, well recovered Rafa going in to Aussie Open would have been Kissing and Biting the Winner Trophy. There is NO doubt in my mind. No one would have beaten him. Vamos Rafa, Love, Marylynn

I hope you have great health, luck, and karma during 2019 Aussie Open

  2. Devastated for Rafa to get injured, freak injury but very obvious that he could not continue,He must think that Melbourne is not his friend once more. Injured pre match v Wawrinka , losing sto Djokovic and Federer when he was leading in the fifth, withdrawal injured v Murray ( am I correct ) It s my first visit to AO but the light has gone from the tournament with Rafa injured.
Let us hope that Rafa takes time to fully recover , would like to see him skip Indian Wells and Miami and focus on clay season
Wishing him the best always, missing our great champion

  3. It’s a shame that Rafa has sustained such an injury as this, but the only silver lining in this cloud is that it may well force Rafa to reduce his schedule, finally! His doctor, Cotorro, believes that Rafa must pick and choose what competitions he enters to ensure that the injury does not recur in another grand slam. “Obviously the competition is very demanding (and), as the years pass you have to take certain measures. The physical condition that Rafa had with 20 years is different from the one he has with 32, after a life dedicated to high competition.”

This latest injury is a very loud warning to Rafa to ease off or risk more severe and long term damage to his body. Most players who suffer acute injury-many of whom undergo surgery- never recover fully and certainly do not go on to be as good as they once were. Rafa, please do not join this list. Listen to your doctor, listen to your body! If you want more grand slams, you have to sacrifice many of these relatively small tournaments (Acapulco, Barcelona, Beijing….). You will, for sure, lose your no.1 ranking, but so what? It’s a sacrifice worth making in pursuit of more grand slams.

  4. Cilic is ready to grab the runner up plate. Be prepared for a spectacular UE show by the Croat on Sunday.

    • I couldn’t bear to watch the final if smug Roger gets through. Maybe, just maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised by Chung! You never know……

    • HAHAHA I hope not!

Let’s give Cilic a chance and see if he comes correct on Sunday against Federer (in case Federer tames Chung).

I won’t be watching that match, but I’m hoping Cilic causes an upset. Not holding my breath though!

    • Cilic may very well be playing against CHUNG ….that would be fantastic…. for FINALS, I am putting my bets on CHUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) Lets be aware that CHUNG’s Match has a professional, non bias umpire…and that the line folks are instructed to be very objective very careful and very aware paying attention to each ball with their calls. We all all too aware to previous BIAS coverage of matches, seen way too many princess r favoritism on majors, in terms of UMPIRES….LINE FOLKS, COMMENTATORS…on and on…. when you play REPLAY it is always even more clear and obvious for all to witness ….hope when CHUNG PLAYS princess r, he gets a complete fair MATCH DYNAMICS when he plays. I am not planning to watch princess r match but look forward to seeing the replay .

  5. My heart is breaking for you Rafa, so sad. Praying for your quick recovery. God bless. Your Aussie Abuela Nan Shirley.

  8. Rafa. So sad to see you hurt. Hoping and Praying for your quick recovery! You give so much of yourself and we ardent fans are always proud of our tennis hero. See you in Indian Wells. Vamos!!!!

  9. I am so pleased to hear that Rafa’s injury is not so serious that it will prevent him from playing in 2018 . Watching the match against Clicic, I was hoping that he didn’t have a hamstring injury. It would have been interesting to see the outcome of this match had Rafa not gotten hurt . I think Rafa was not on his ‘A” game and Clicic was definetly playing exceptional tennis . Let’s hope for Rafa’s prompt and healthy return and to a great 2018 year . Vamos Rafa forever !

    • I do think Clicic’s exceptionally effective and aggressive play limited Rafa’s options. But had Rafa hold on to the early break in the second set, or returned one of the second-serve returns better, things might have turned out very differently.

Rafa, get well soon! Our thoughts and love are always with you!

      • Yes, I was following the match on the Diario de Mallorca site in Internet which they always put on when he is playing, their local celebrity. 😀 There is only the text, no photo image. If only he could have won the second set, over in 3, there would have been less pressure on his body. 😢 Cilic rose up agressive, hit him hard, shame for us fans. 😕 For this hope another will win, last year the final I was praying that Federer would let him win to make it even., 2 Aus Opens but 😥 no. Fiona in Paris

    • Yes, you are right……it is normal not to be A player each and every match….but lets be mindful to the fact that with all the bs happening behind court politics, it is hardly surprising when consequently, players are a bit preoccupied whilst playing. BUT EVEN WITH LESS THAN A MATCH PLAY, Rafa has an amazing, persistent fighting way and ability to turn matches around and ultimately emerge victorious over and over again!!!!!! : ) HE NEVER EVER LOOKED LIKE HE WAS GOING TO LOOSE TILL HE GOT HURT. Here no exception, Cillic played well but Rafa’s game was stronger…he was the better player and overall, was much more consistent through out the sets in terms of court command, competitive energy and balancing edge scores, conviction, and aggressive play. Only when he got injured, Cillic upgraded his game some… congratulation to Cillic…… It was fantastic to see Rafa compete so brilliantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : ) He plays such high competitive ans solid games……in each and every one of his tours, GS OR NOT, he is strong, powerful and imposing. He gives it all…… and the good news RAFA is here …. NUMBER ONE TENNIS PLAYER IN THE WORLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) DELIGHTING THE SPORT OF TENNIS with his strong, brilliant TOP COURT MAGIC and with his BEAUTIFUL TENNIS!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) 🙂 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) 😉 🙂 : ) : )
      VAMOS DEAR RAFA & CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BEAUTIFUL AO RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : )
