  1. VAMOS DEAR RAFA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) & : ) Congratulations on moving to 5th ranking & on your amazing strong beautiful TENNIS !!!!!! 2. I know Rafa has improved over the past couple of months or so. But, I think his uncle Toni needs to sit down with Rafa and others and watch the 2008 Wimbledon match with Federer. As was stated in another post recently, Rafa took the ball on the rise constantly, he played offensively. The mind has a way of regressing and forgetting. That is why I wish they would watch that match, over and over again. That’s what a good effective coach needs to do, not just talk about it, or hit it out on the court. This will enlighten Rafa again. And it would help Toni too. Plus, they need to work on his serve. This is what a new Super Coach would automatically do PLUS!!! But, if that doesn’t happen, or happen soon than Rafa and team should watch ther 2008 Wimbledon match and other good matches such as the US Open when Rafa also played offensively. Every player, not just Rafa needs another perspective over a period of time. That is just simple common sense. So come on, what is wrong with making life easier on Rafa and getting an added instructor – someone with a fresh new perspective. One or two technical adjustments will make a world of differenc e for Rafa. Love you Rafa, and God bless you always. Love Marylynn

  3. Some of you folks below criticize me for making “negative” comments about Rafa. I’m negative about his long-running slump that has no end in sight, not positive about it like you are. At 28/29/30 years old, he should be having the BEST years of his career, not the WORST.

  4. “And remember – my coach is more my uncle than my coach.” ~ Rafa, June 2015

Which is EXACTLY why Rafa can’t get out of the long-running slump that he’s in.

    • I rally question your loyalty to Rafael Nadal. sure he is not at his best but injury and an operation takes its toll. He is in a much better place now. clearly you do not understand the ups and downs of sport!

      • You Elizabeth and all the other posters here who act as teenage Backstreet Boys fans, are the ones who really haven’t got a bloody clue about tennis. We’ve had the 2009, 2012 and 2014 season, in which we heard time and again that injury was Nadal’s big enemy – and indeed, I believe that Nadal would have won at least 2 more majors without those absences. But 2015 has been an injury free year, and this meant a huge opportunity to catch up with Djoko. Mind you, there are no new stars, there is no new competition. Instead, Rafa became mentally and tactically a shade of himself. A waste!

  5. You have worked through your brain lock. Life will be good again. I know it. Looking forward to seeing you play the end of the year tournament. Show well.

  6. Excellent point by J Beer. Rafa reached the quarter-finals(5th round) of the first two slams of 2015, but then lost in the 2nd round of Wimbledon and 3rd round of the US Open. That’s progress?!?!? I don’t think so.

Rafa is in total denial about the state of his game. It needs an OVERHAUL that’s guided by a real coach. Not by his uncle. Somebody from his inner circle better wake him up before it’s too late.

    • totally agree. Rafa is not happy. deep down he knows the core of problem is Toni but years of traveling and living with his uncle and the influence of Toni don’t allow him to set himself free. Rafa’s face is suddenly full of wrinkle. The poor soul is so tormented.

      • That’s why Toni needs to STRONGLY encourage Rafa to hire a new coach – as an addition or replacement to his current team. This should have been done a long time ago. Rafa would have 20 slams by now if he had the proper team from the start.

      • Sosa Are you for real? Rafa is not tormented he is a well adjusted human being. How can you make such judgements. His game has gone through a bad spell but he is well on his way back. Injury and an operation has an adverse effect. It takes time to recover.

  7. Vamos rafa …..hoping u to see in top 4 before australian open 16
Yes it’s tough to have hard draw …but its spory should not make a big deal about
Both roger and rafa needs high respect
They have give this game so much

  8. yes fan Virginia Martin….. as a matter of fact, it has been that way ever since Rafa took fed win after win…..and others caught up & took fed easily as well. If you look at the top 20 players you see that they are all remarkable top stronger competitors….and yet mysteriously old fed stays infront of them…. the good news is that NOBODY is buying that…. especially not fed himself I imagine he is well aware of where his level is in compassion to the TOP players….
Rafa & his amazing loyal team are doing outstanding job moving forward…..what a blessing it is for all of us Tennis fans….. It is a seven time fold blessing that Rafa IS enjoying his TOP game & takes it with such grace & powerful enthusiasm striding ahead strongly keeping up his BEAUTIFUL TENNIS l!!!!!! : ) He is such a fantastic competitive professional !!!!!!!!!!
    VAMOS DEAR RAFA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : )

  9. Nobody is as good as Novak Djokovic RIGHT NOW. As for Roger Federer – Murray, Berdych, Wawrinka and Rafa are all better than Federer because the committee makes sure Federer draws easy opponents in the early rounds of every tournament. By the time he reaches the quarters he is more rested than the other players which gives him an advantage. The draw is supposed to be a fair and impartial draw, but it is crooked tournament after tournament. Lately, Rafa has drawn hard opponents from the beginning to end. On purpose. In my opinion this puts Rafa and Djokovic on the same level.

    • Djoko is very solid at the moment, definitely. At the same time, I believe Federer has improved a lot and has been playing some of the best tennis of his career (still, the Weak Era King can’t beat Djoko at the highest podiums). The biggest difference compared to 2013 is that Mount Murray and Nadal are now lesser players than they were. Let me say this: Nadal and Murray have gone down much more, than that Djoko has gone up (I think he’s basically doing the same thing he’s been doing since 2011).

  10. Uncle Toni should leave. he does more harm than good toRafa. read both Rafa’s book and the uncle Toni’s book. Uncle Toni says in his book that Rafa is not as good as Djokovic and federer. What idiot says such an insulting remark about a player under his coaching, lt alone about his nephew? anyone with a slightest piece of wisdom knows the reverse psychology maybe works few times but it backfires and ruins the confidence enormously. Toni’s view of life and morality is so outdated and insane. Rafa need to free himself from the Toni’s insanity. Rafa earned his success by punishing his body not by his coach.

  11. Having a very bad year but playing so well on his worst surface has helping him to reach the #5 and more good news to come in 2016!

    • Rafa merely went up a few spots in the ranking because other players had to defend some points, whereas Rafa was injured a year ago. The gab with no. 1 and 2 has never been this big and the improvement he has shown is close to zero. Actually, reached QF of the first two majors this season. His so called upward curve brought him to R2 and R2 of the next two majors. It’s a sad sad situation.

  12. Getting to No.5 is now a great accomplishment for Rafa. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

    • Yeah we can go on with the tragic examples. A 7-6 7-6 loss to (even more than Rafa a veteran:) Wawrinka (a player he beat a dozen times in a row without losing a set) is celebrated with words like “I was close, I am proud that, did not play badly, I could have won”, which is unreal. Many of these posters here must have never played a tennis match by positively responding to that. A 7-6 7-6 loss means you really, really LOST and in the most blatant way. Cause no sport is so mental as tennis, and it means you lost the points that really matter. The points that show who is on top. And after all these months, these two years, yes now after these 20+ losses in a time span of 12 months, we should be happy that he’s at no. 5??? Look at his 2015 record, there are not even 60 wins and there are like 20 losses. I want to shake this man up, he’s ruining the chance of owning the greatest legacy ever and he does it all to himself. With his ignorant uncle in the corner.

  13. VAMOS !!! doucement mais surement tu va remonter au classement . je te souhaite de réussir à atteindre tes objectifs …… VAMOS ……T’ES LE MEILLEUR

  14. Well done Rafa! Nearly back in the ‘Big Four’ again! You have had a tough year but you still moved up to 5th place! That’s a fantastic achievement… a true Champ. Vamos Rafa!

  15. Just read the link to a post (below) about how rafa and nole were battling for no. 1, right before aussie open 2014. What sheer sheer nightmare we’ve ended up in since. With the exception of rg 2014, it’s been bad news all over and no solutions.

    • Don’t worry, be happy. Uncle Toni says they might consider making changes to Rafa’s team in 2017 if 2016 is another debacle. That is, if Rafa’s knees don’t explode by then – from his grueling, punishing and debilitating style of play.

      • You should be worried, his knees won’t to explode, on the contrary you will be very upset when he start to win thanks to his superb game and style to play

      • There’s a website called TennisX where Roger is God and the bloggers never tire of making negative comments about Rafa. Seriously, you and your kind should go check it out, and then seat your cranky asses there permanently.

      • Well said Midgie, unfortunately most of the Roger’s fans are full of complex and their comments sound ridiculous, they like to insult and they don’t known what is the word RESPECT to who deserve it

  16. Congratulations sweet Rafa 😘🌟 You’re going up and up, just were you belong 🎾💪 VAMOS champ! ❤️👑😃
