Rafael Nadal won the first singles match that he played in the hard court season this summer, by defeating Canadian wild card Jesse Levine 6-2, 6-0. The victory followed his successful doubles bid on Tuesday.
The opening games of the first set were engaging, with long rallies, and seemed to signify a long match. However, the set moved quickly beyond the first few games in Rafa’s favor. The second set was much faster, ending at 6-0.
This was Rafa’s 250th Masters 1000 series match victory. He has not lost a single match on a hard court this year.
Rafa’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Frank Dancevic and Jerzy Janowicz.
