Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud are set to join forces in the doubles event at this month’s Nordea Open, as announced by the tournament organizers on Wednesday.
This marks a significant return for Rafa to the Båstad ATP 250, where he last competed in 2005, securing the singles title.
While already confirmed for the singles draw, Rafa’s partnership with Ruud, the 2021 champion, will be a first-time collaboration.
Scheduled from July 15-21, the Nordea Open provides an ideal setting for Rafa to fine-tune his clay court skills ahead of Olympic Games.

Just saw they released the entry list for Paris Olympics. Rafa has a great shot at a medal in singles, maybe gold!
Lorna, you were correct. Rafa is one the singles list for the Olympics.
JR is correct also. Rafa has a great chance to win gold. But it will no no walk in the park. I count at least seven of the ATP top ten who are also on the Entry List for singles.
If Rafa can play as well as he did in 2022, Rafa can easily win gold at Paris Olympics. No one comes close. Rafa is slowly but surely making his way back.
