The Rolex Paris Masters draw is out, and Rafael Nadal has a bye in the first round. He will play the winner of the match between Roberto Bautista Agut and Tommy Paul in the second round.
Our champ is joined by sixth seed Novak Djokovic in the bottom half of the draw, with top seed Carlos Alcaraz projected to face off against fourth seed Daniil Medvedev in the other semifinal.
Rafa has advanced to at least the quarter-finals of the tournament in his eight previous appearances. He has tallied a 22-6 record at the event.

I see nothing on this site as to the time of Rafa’s match on Wednesday but ATPTour.com says that it will be about 7:30 pm. I’m just guessing that to be 230 pm New York time. Suggest checking elsewhere to be sure.
If I hear one more commentator compare Alcaraz to our proven 22 time Major champ (that’s the beginning of the accomplishment list) I will scream then puke. I don’t see anything similar other than their country of origin. I honestly don’t care for Alcaraz and think he had a good run this year. But he’s 19 and NOT Rafa. I am so happy to see Rafa on court this week and I hope NO ONE takes a minute of his amazingness from him. Tennis is not the same when Rafa isn’t playing!! Vamos and much love, Rafa!!
🤣😂…That’s right! Carlos does not have any of the charisma that Rafa had at 19. Rafa made tennis fun to watch and he made you passionately want him to win. I’m just not getting any of that from the new gens! I don’t see the comparison either… yes they’re both Spaniards but that’s about it!
First of all, every top player wants to be their own man. They won’t say it, but no one likes being compared to anyone. Every top player has their own signature and Carlos is NOT Rafa or Federer or Djokovic but he has elements of all three. He is a special player with his own strengths and weaknesses. I absolutely find him exciting to watch because he has an aggressive attacking game like Federer and defense like Rafa and novak, but his strength is hardcourts, not clay. I love tennis and I love Rafa’s style of play but I also love watching Federer and Alcaraz. There is no need to compare and hate players.
Sometimes I think analysis and commentaries on news, climate change, politics or tennis are comical. Imagine if Nadal wins, they will say new fatherhood has sparked new joy, life and foundation to his tennis. But if he loses they would blame it on me fatherhood and priorities. If the earth becomes hotter, they blame it on global warming. If it becomes colder, they blame it on global warming. If the temperature stays the same, they blame it on stagnation, inaction and lack of progress.

I hope there will be no excuse about being a new father if he crashes out early by him or by fans.
Rafa will be very focused, despite his busy life as a parent. I think his new role will give him extra impetus to do well, contrary to what many think.
Denis Shapovalov is a danger in the third round if he gets there as he’s in form right now and has given Rafa problems in the past. That said, Rafa will take one match at a time and fight to the end as always. Wishing our champ the very best of luck.

This is a NORMAL draw nowadays. The depth of the field is immense and chock full of dangerous players. There are no easy draws for anyone anymore. I hope Rafa remains happy, fit and motivated from match to match. Plus there are things more important than tennis. As fans we should appreciate everything he has given us and especially now in the last leg of his career.
You’re right Zlaz, Rafa faces an amazing line up of tennis talent. Seems like everything is against him: lack of competitive matches, he prefers outdoor tournaments, coming off an injury. So I won’t be surprised if Rafa plays well!
Tennis is a meritocracy. Best player on the day wins. I have no doubt Rafa will give it his very best but honestly he has to shorten points even more indoors. easier said than done, but it’s necessary and for the long term. In the overall scheme of things and for his career, the ATP Finals and slams matter more. Not the Paris master’s. I see it more as getting tuned and ready for the ATP Finals.
