Rafael Nadal delights fans with return to practice court

After suffering chest injury in Indian Wells final, Rafael Nadal posted an encouraging update on social media: a few photos of him striking balls on the training court again.

“Today’s first gentle workout after four weeks without stepping on a tennis court. What excitement to step onto clay again!,” our champ posted on Twitter and Instagram.

Rafa missed last week’s Monte Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open, currently underway, but could potentially return for the Madrid Masters on May 1-8. His main focus will be on being fit for the French Open which begins on May 22.

  1. It is always a good news when you are on the tennis court. You bring joy and inspiration to the many of us! Vamos Rafael!

  2. I think its interesting that Rafa’s doctor said it was a 4-6 week injury and Rafa is back on the court exactly four weeks to the day after his doctor’s diagnosis. I am assuming that this means that Rafa is no longer having problems breathing as I don’ think Rafa or his team would have him practicing if he was in pain. Rafa is doing the right thing by being conservative with his health.

I do think that he will be back for the French Open. Personally I would love to see him at Wimbledon also.

    • Yes, it is good to see Rafa on the practice court. this week😀. Of course we missed him at Monte Carlo and Barcelona 😕🎾 I have my tickets for R Garros 🎾praying for him to arrive 😉😇 I wrote to him I hope that this year they will return to the Alma Melia hôtel where they always stayed before, it is far more friendly. Does anyone know if they will .be staying there ? The past 2 year s because of Covid they were put in the Hôtel Pullman 😕 big and we did ses them arriving but at a distance. Fiona in Paris

  3. That is such good news! I enjoyed watching Monte Carlo, but it was not the same without Rafa. I am sad that he is missing Barcelona and Pista Rafa Nadal. I hope that he plays Madrid, but only if he feels 100%.

  4. How delighted to hear from the news! Look forward to your great performence in May. Vamos Rafa! ✌

  5. Best news ever….Rafa continue your healing and be fully ready..we love you and want the very best for you..Vamos 🇪🇦🇪🇦☘☘🙏🙏

  6. It’s so good to see Rafa pick up a racquet again.
Tennis is nothing without our GOAT.

He should take it slow, don’t overdo anything.
Then he’ll be back in no time for the rest of the clay season including getting his well earned 14th FO and 22nd GS.
