Rafael Nadal: The next James Bond?

Rafael Nadal may be Spanish but many people would love him to see him as the world’s most famous fictional Englishman, James Bond.

Our champ is on the cover of daily newspaper The West Australian. The headline under his photo says: A licence to thrill. Nadal’s 007 moment at Rotto.

He’s the No.1 tennis player in the world but yesterday Rafael Nadal was more 007 than 001, giving James Bond a run for his money as he took a dip in the pristine waters of Rottnest Island.

As Nadal enjoyed a swim at Rottnest in his orange shorts, sampled crayfish and of course took the obligatory viral quokka selfie, the image of him in the water was reminiscent of Daniel Craig’s famous ocean scene in his first James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

  4. That photo was in my (British) newspaper this morning, although sadly not on the front page! I vaguely remember a tennis player being in a Bond film … I think it was Vijay Amrirtaj, in the one that was partly filmed at Udaipur.
