Rafael Nadal’s hopes of winning his third Wimbledon title ended in the semifinal after a defeat at the hands of Roger Federer.
Here are some tweets from current and former tennis stars. And some fan/celebrity reaction.

Let the world and its mother comment, criticise or jump up & down..our Champion has nothing to or need to worry over the outcome of the SF.
As I write this, Roger is down at 1 set to Djokovicβs 2 sets, 2 all in the fourth set.
Now, an OBJECTIVE look at the road to the final, I feel Roger had a more difficult road to reach the final than Rafa, if you look at their opponents. Not the seeds, mind you, the men they had to play.
Rafa played only one seeded opponent while Roger played against four, not counting Djokovic:
Rafa: Sugita #274; Kyrgios #43; Tsonga #72; Sousa #69, Querry #65, Federer #3.
Roger: Harris #86; Clarke #169; Pouille #27; Berrittini #17; Kai #8, Rafa #2.
Just the facts.
Wimbyβs singles champion Simona Halepβs coach Daniel Dobre commented on her win:
βItβs unbelievable, not the victory, but the way she played because it was not Serena playing bad, it was Simona playing unbelievable. She won the match by herself.β
You go Simona. Well done.
I used to admire Federer so much because apart from his game I always considered him a gentleman. Of course, when they payed together I always wanted Rafa to win. The 2017 AO final made me changed my mind about Federer. Considering that he had had two days rest and Rafa had a very hard and long match the day before, and RF decides that his legs “are a bit tired” he goes off court for 20 minutes, I wonder if he had some “other” treatment in that time. And now, in Wimbledon his seeding is changed for the detriment of Rafa and he’s quite happy with that!! He seems to be treated as the “Golden boy” Why? Has he got friends in high places???
Yes, seeing a sports psycologist seems logicial π‘ but maybe he already doΓ©s, some people are very private and do not tell their fans everything. Fiona in Paris

I hope so. ThΓ© prΓ©sentation of the trophy was fine. Fiona in Paris
Thanks Margo for alerting us to Judy Murrayβs Wimbledon 2049 tweet of July 11. Itβs hilarious and some of the comments are so funny too. Andyβs return to singles play is still uncertain so he probably understands her omitting him.
John McEnroe stated that he believes Federer can play five more years. But this…LOL.
RR, yes Judyβs tweet hilarious. I was LOL
Federer five more years? I think thatβs pushing it. However, Mirka could be threatening him with a lashing if he doesnβt continue playing. She seemed a lot more excited than Roger that he won.
Congrats to Farah and Cabal in the Wimbledon doubles πΎπππ 2 colombianos , at least they speak the same langage as Nadal π Shame our French Mahut and Vasselin π were runners up. Since Mahut has stopped playing with his friend Herbert less π Fiona in Paris
Simona played brilliantly, although Serena was poor today – but it’s an interesting point about the sports psychologist and how much it helped her. Going back to Kyrgios, Nicolas Mahut’s just been hit near the eye by a ball in the doubles final. It was a complete accident, and thankfully he seems to be OK, but it just shows how dangerous a ball travelling at high speed can be – hitting one at someone deliberately is very reckless.
Dear Rafa. In my opinion you should have won. You are the best. Canβt believe they let Kyrgios get away with his commentary in presser , on instagram and on OOURT. Some of the things he says and does are so demeaning. Rafa I wish your strategy was to play to Rogerβs backhand. I think the outcome may have been in your favor. I think you wanted it so much that your intensity and confidence was not as strong as usual. You are number 1 on the court and off. You have more integrity and professionalism than any player I have ever followed in tennis. When you play Be calm, donβt overrhink overthink and most importantly I hope you remain pain free and healthy. Keep believing in yourself Rafa because you are THE BEST. God bless you. And God bless your marriage. Love you Rafa. Marylynn
I do believe Rafa lost mentally. RF did not play better, he got luckier and his game was more strategic than Rafa’s. Whatever, as Rafa says if if if does not help. To the next tounament.
Wamos Rafa, win or loose you are the best.
The difference for Rafa was someone put him out there in sleeve! How could our Spanish Bull play like that. Too restricting. Please find our champion something sleeveless for the U S Open.
Tough loss for Rafa and Iβm quite sad about it. He needs to show the real intent of winning at Wimbledon. For the last few years itβs the same pattern by not bringing in his full-time coach to Wimbledon. He will not win another Wimbledon with that useless Roig who is just one or Rafaβs vassals. In order to best his opponents like Novak & Roger he needs to at least try and emulate some of their strategies by bringing in super coach/consultants for the grass season, someone like Becker (who needs cash now) could be really useful and just his presence in Rafaβs box would definitely rattle Djokovic and probably Roger too. So long he continues with same bull crap strategies of coming to wimby with Roig as if on a English holiday it is never going to work. But I donβt think it matters to him otherwise he would have taken measures by now, I mean itβs been 11 years since he won here last time.
Don’t suppose Rafa or his team will entertain the idea, they’re a conservative clan who don’t look for outside help, but I think Rafa needs to see a sports psychologist, to help him overcome this mental block.
He’s had this block now for a while with Djoko, stemming, I’m sure, from that series of 7 losses in a row to D a few years ago, and now he seems to be getting this same feeling with Fed, that he can only beat the two of them on clay. This is simply not true – he’s beaten both on other surfaces, and can do so again, if he can get his nerve back.
It’ not a question of fighting spirit, he has that in bucket loads, I think it’s a question of belief.
Simona Halep has been seeing a sports psychologist for 2 years, since she realised she was losing matches to players she should have beaten, and just look at her results and ranking since then. Lots of sports people use a psychologist and most find it a great help.
It’s heartbreaking to see Rafa play lights out tennis, as at AO and W this year, and then just not play the way that got him there, in the crunch match. He appears to be in good health, and has a good personal life, so I can only think it’s something in his mind that’s holding him back.
I love and admire him so much, that I want to see him using every benefit available. Sometimes a complete outsider can provide the help needed. Toni, Carlos and Francisco are fantastic, but it seems to me that the time has come to try something different.
And selfishly, I don’t want to go through the pain and disappointment of AO and W 2019 againn
Congratulations to Simona Halep for winning the WTA singles over Serena 6-2, 6-2. Happy for her.
For me Rafa wanted it too much yesterday. Therefore, he is cramped and has made more mistakes than necessary like last year against Djokovic.
Β
Yes, he seΓ¨med rather stressΓ©d π‘ on edge and that leads to mistakes π§ Fiona in Paris

Thank you Rafa for an amazing match with Roger. To me and so many you are the best and no 1. You have class and respect a wonderful heart and are a brilliant tennis player. Rest up and we look forward to your next matches.
congratulation Rafa on this great tournament, you are our #1 and will always be. all the best for the next tournament.
Rafa. Thank you for an amazing tournament at Wimbledon 2019 ! My life stood still for 2 weeks watching you play the most perfect matches in difficult circumstances. You arrived at SW19 not having played one competitive game on grass and after another tiring epic win in Roland Garros . Despite that most experts agreed that you had played the best tournament even after being downrated by Wimbledon and having to meet the most controversial player in the second round!
Every game you play is a perfect combination of skill, power, fitness, aggression , love of the game, fairness, respect for your opponent, courage and the humility to always be grateful for what you were given.
The world of sport is blessed to have you and you will always be my number 1 !!!
Thank you Rafa and all the best for your wedding !!

PRAISING A PLAYER WHO MORE OFTEN THAN NOT GETS MUCH EASIER DRAWS AND ACCEPTS IT SEASON AFTER SEASON TOUR AFTER TOUR THEN WINS NOT ONLY LACKS SPORTSMANSHIP BUT REMINDS ME OF AN ANALOGY OF A PILE OF TURD BEING SERVED ON A PLATTER WITH ARTIFICIAL DRY FLOWERS. I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THAT AS SPORT.

NOT THE TIME TO BE SO DISGUSTING
Yes, watched the match entirely πΎ at our local bar, there were at least 3 TV screens tuned in to Wimbledon π I was praying for him as always πβΊ so sad π’π‘it would have been super.π I had a feeling that when Roger started with an ace π― he is in form today and may have the upper hand β π Rafa s Tweet afterwards seemed positive , saying an amazing match , Roger was strong π he sounded less disappointed than us fans π― yet he obviously had a decepcionado look on his face π when he shook hands with the umpire. I have already said that he should have won Wimbledon 2 or 4 times more after 2010, those obstacles π¦ should not have been there , he will keep trying for us βΊ but Roger suffers less from injuries than Rafa , age has nothing to do with it , being 5 years older. Lastima Bautista π I would have loved an all Spanish final ππ΄π I toast them all with a glass of sangria π·πππ with plenty of ice cubes at home. For the final I hope for Djokovic , I wonder if Rafael will stay in London until Monday and watch it on TV. Fiona in Paris
Fiona, I too would have loved an all-Spanish final for more reasons than one.
I am no tennis expert by any stretch of the imagination but I do feel there is more to the story about Rafaβs loss than the eye can see. We may not learn why Rafa lost for some time to come or, hopefully, sooner than expected.
I think it was a combination of factors; from Lornaβs comment about βoverdoing it with the plauditsβ and Rafa seemingly βtalking himself out of beating them on any surface other than clayβ, Luckstarβs preparation suggestion that Rafa play βa warm-up event on grassβ, Rafa_1310βs comment about βRafa wanting it too much which caused him to make more mistakes than necessary,β to Carlosβ comment in his interview that βRafa isnβt inferior to anyone.β Carlosβ use of the word βinferiorβ still has me thinking.
Rafa will sulk for a little while about this loss but will get back to what he loves doing. And I hope he figures it all out.
More than anything I wish him good health. If he has that, he will be happy.
RAFA ROCKS
Congrats Rafa on an amazing tournament! Today was not your day and it could have gone either way. You showed us all today, the passion and fighting spirit you have for your game.
