Rafael Nadal has added former French Open champion and fellow Spaniard Carlos Moya to his coaching team. Moya will join Toni Nadal and Francis Roig in working with our champ.

Rafa:

I am very excited to announce that Carlos will join my team immediately and will be working together with Toni and Francis Roig. To have someone like Carlos who is not only a friend but also a very important person in my career, is something special. He will be next to me on my practice and competition. At the same time he will also join the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar working with Toni and the rest of the technical team.

 Carlos Moya:

Toni called me while I was at the IPTL competition. It was great to receive that call. To be able to help Rafa is something special for me and I am sure that, together with Toni, Francis and the rest of the team we have a great common project.

Rafa is a special player and, above all, a great person. I have a lot of trust and confidence that he will be able to continue winning important titles. At the same time, the academy is an important challenge in an already very professional structure with great professionals that do an excellent work.

Toni Nadal:

When I knew Carlos had stopped with Raonic I called him. Carlos has always been a special person for us. He was always there to help us. We think it is the right moment to have him join our team.

  1. Wow that is GREAT NEWS,

Carlos is another Spaniard who is a wonderful player and I am sure he will add to the team various ideas that Rafa and the others are overwhelmingly happy to receive.

  2. Great news Rafa … somehow I thought Carlos helped you sometime in the past, or was he just a friend? Wish John McInroe would also join the Team! Here’s hoping 2017 is a good year for all of us n our families, n we enjoy good health n much happiness, God willing. Happy Christmas Rafa to you n your family from your Aussie Abuela Shirley. 🎄🎁🎂🍷😀😊😇

  3. Wonderful addition to a great team. I like that they are friends already and close. I am so looking forward to 2017. Rafa all the best always. Your biggest fan.

  4. I am not as surprised about the what as I am about the who.
As is known, Moyà has been friends with the Nadals since Rafa was very young. I hope transitioning to coaching Rafa is flawless and sustained.
During Moyà’s eleven months with Milos he most likely picked up some good tips from seasoned Piatti and McEnroe.
Happy that Rafa finally has a new voice on his team and that Moyà will be with him during practice and tournaments. Hopefully Rafa will stay well and win some more hardware.

    RAFA ROCKS

    • Vamos Vamos Rafa!!! Thrilled to hear that you will be starting a new year with a new voice on your team! Watching rewind on TC and there is was on court report… Showing Rafa and Moya practicing together… I am just thrilled to death! Can’t wait to see the results! Margo, when will Rafa be playing first time with Moya?

      • Hiiii Souix, as far as I know isn’t it Dec. 29-31 Mubadala? Then Brisbane….
Rafa has already started training with Moyà but who knows when fans will see the Moyà signature in this new arrangement.
I plan on being patient and wonder what kind of updates Rafa will give us. E.g., without divulging his game plans, will Rafa let us know what aspects of his game Carlos is working on. You know how I love to hear it from Rafa. But you know how tight-lipped he is. LOL. Gotta love his responses.

        RAFA ROCKS

  5. félicitations à Carlos moya et rafa car c est 1 très bonne nouvelle 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏

  6. Wow. The miracle finally happens. It is just a massive pity that Nadal will never get back those three years that he wasted, refusing new input whilst losing time and again.

  7. Great news! Carlos is a great addition to Rafa’s team. I am so thrilled for Rafa and his team.
Great way to start the new year. I even saw vast improvement with Milos’s ground game after
Carlos became his assistant coach. But I am so glad he is now going to work with Rafa alongside Uncle Toni and Francis. What a great Xmas present to all the fans!

  8. EXTREMELY HAPPY FOR YOU RAFA.

    LOVE YOU ALWAYS. ❤💜💟💓💔💖💗💘💝💛💚💙😙😙😙😙

  9. Best of luck with you on the new year to come. Great person. Merry Christmas to you and maria your family. God’s blessings to you.

  11. This is great news! Carlos is a good friend and role model to Rafa and I am sure he will add a great point of view to Rafa’s game! 🙂

  12. Great news Rafa , I’m in no doubt he will make a big difference to your team . If not I hear Boris is available ( he he) unless Milos Raonic has snapped him up

  13. This is good news. Perhaps a few of the nay-sayers will shut up now. Whatever… a Happy Christmas to Rafa and all his true fans.

  14. Unsure how much this will help. Carlos was always on hand to help rafa in the past as he is friends with the family. Except now he’s being paid for it i suppose.

  15. Wow, I am thrilled with this news. Who knows if it will make a difference, but it shows Rafa and his team are going all out to make 2017 special for Rafa. The most important thing is that Rafa stays healthy, but Moya is a wonderful addition! Merry Christmas fellow Rafa fans!

    • Such great news Va4favre… Merry Christmas to you as well! You are a true blue Rafa fan! Hopefully this will give Rafa some New revived confidence and we will be able to enjoy a few more years with our champion!
