World No. 1 Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 7-5, 6-3 to reach the final in London today. This is a big victory for our champion, who has never defeated Federer in this tournament to date.

The first set started out evenly, with Rafa playing two flawless games and holding to love before facing a break point thrice in his third service game. Rafa rallied to win the point, evening it out at 3-3. Rafa broke to take a 5-4 lead, and got broken back to 5-5. After breaking Federer once more, Rafa took the first set at 7-5 in 43 minutes. The second set started off slower for Rafa, with Federer turning up his aggressiveness and serving sharper than ever. However, Rafa broke for 3-2, and from then, it was smooth sailing to a 6-3 set win.

“I’m very happy for everything. It is the perfect way to finish season and it is probably one of my best seasons of my career. In a tournament where I have lost before and have not had the most luck in, it is great. Roger was a little bit unlucky having a match against Juan Martin del Potro yesterday. I will try my best in the final. It is a special tournament and one of the best events we have in the world of tennis,” said World No. 1, Rafael Nadal.

Rafa will play in the final on Monday against the winner of Djokovic vs. Wawrinka. Congratulations, Rafa! What a well-deserved victory!
