  • Rafael Nadal ‘is going to play in Paris’ according to Uncle Toni | tennishead.net

‘‘He is going to play in Paris, how he trains in the coming weeks and what he can do in Rome will be important to measure his aspirations there,” claimed Toni Nadal.

Toni Nadal, who is now coach to Felix Auger-Aliassime, also added that his nephew is not considering retirement as suspicions grow on the 36-year-old’s future on the tour.

“He is not thinking about retiring, he just wants to recover well and continue competing because he is passionate about this sport,” said the 62-year-old.

  • No. 10: Nadal wins his 14th Roland Garros—and finally feels the crowd love in Paris | tennis.com

As 36-year-old Rafael Nadal ramps up for what may be his final swing through the clay courts of Europe, we look back at the 10 matches that made him the undisputed King of Clay.

This was the 59th—and, as of this writing, most recent—meeting between Nadal and Djokovic; the Serb leads by the thinnest of margins, 30-29. The match itself never reached the heights of many of their classics, but Nadal’s performance did. Despite his age, his injuries, and his loss to Djokovic the year before, Rafa showed that nothing matters when the king walks onto his favorite clay court.

  • “Rafael Nadal can play very bad, but you can be damn sure he bounces back” – Thomas Johansson | sportskeeda.com

“To play him is… the ball comes with a different spin, different heights, different heaviness, every single time,” Thomas Johansson. “And, you know, that when he gets hold of you with his forehand, at the best, there are three shots, and you’re done, sometimes only two.”

“So, you always feel that something big is coming, you know, towards you, sometimes when you play against other guys,” he continued. “The ball feels like it weighs, you know, let’s say a kilo, but when you play against Rafa, the freaking ball weighs 10 kilos. So it’s almost like playing with, you know, with the bowling ball.”

However it’s great to watch matches objectively without my heart always in my mouth:)

I follow up on Alcaraz, Thiem and Zverev when I can. I hope Thiem can find his best level again – he’s had some bad luck lately. And tomorrow Alcaraz VS Zverev should be good!
