22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will lock horns with Dutch Botic van de Zandschulp in the fourth round of the 2022 Wimbledon on Monday. Our champ swept van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 en route to his 14th Roland Garros championship.

Rafa is bidding to reach the quarterfinals here for the 8th time and equal Bjorn Borg and Tim Henman in 8th place on the Open Era list for most Wimbledon men’s singles quarterfinal appearances. This is his 15th Wimbledon appearance.
Rafa is also bidding to reach his 47th Grand Slam quarterfinal. He is in 3rd place on the all-time list for most Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances, behind Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. This is his 65th Grand Slam appearance.
Rafa is bidding to become the 6th man in history to win the first 3 Grand Slam tournaments of the season – after Jack Crawford (1933), Don Budge (1938), Lew Hoad (1956), Rod Laver (1962 and 1969) and Djokovic (2021). Of the 4 men who have previously won the opening 3 Grand Slam tournaments of the season, 2 (Budge and Laver) have gone on to win the Grand Slam, with Laver doing so in both 1962 and 1969.
Our champ is also bidding to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year for the 3rd time and equal Bjorn Borg’s all-time record of 3 back-to-back men’s singles titles in Paris and London. Borg achieved the feat in 3 consecutive years (1978-80), while Nadal won Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back in 2008 and 2010.
