Singles draw has been made for the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, the fifth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in 2022.
21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will open his campaign against a qualifier or John Isner.
Rafa’s potential rivals in the later stages of the tournament are:
- 1st round: Bye
- 2nd round: John Isner
- 3rd round: Denis Shapovalov
- Quarter-final: Casper Ruud
- Semi-final: Novak Djokovic
- Final: Alexander Zverev
Projected quarterfinals:
- Novak Djokovic vs Felix Auger-Aliassime
- Rafael Nadal vs Casper Ruud
- Andrey Rublev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
- Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev
A mid-match surge from Novak Djokovic was not enough to deny Rafa a 10th crown with a three-set win in the 2021 championship match, as the Spaniard extended his all-time record for most titles and most match wins (68) at the event in the process.
Despite a rib injury suffered in March disrupting his most successful start to a season in 2022, Rafa’s unrivalled record at the Foro Italico makes him the man to beat in Rome.
Good luck & Vamos Rafa!
Yes really tough. Will be very physical matches. Just hope he is getting fitter and ready for Paris.
That is a tough draw but of course he can win it if body holds on. This will be a Stern physical test if he is win this and get in shape for Paris.
Great Draw for Rafa
Finally a deserved win for Carlos
So happy for him and happy for djoker loss😄😄😄
“The darker the berry, the sweeter the juice.”
All draws are ‘tough’ draws these days. Rafa will do what needs to be done, and hopefully our champ will prevail in Rome.
Let’s not forget that Madrid has never been a happy hunting ground for Rafa, since he ‘only’ won it 5 times:)
Rafa lost yesterday partly because of some rust that he will surely work off in time for the good things:) He will figure himself out and come out swinging in Rome. Get it done champ!!
*Yea the quote at the top makes no sense.
It’s a hard Roman road ahead for Rafa, especially when his body doesn’t want to play ball. Just give it your best as always champ.
Rafa always gets a really tough draw but wish him the best of luck and looking forward to watching. Vamos Rafa x
Good luck Rafa❤️
Oh dear, that’s a tough draw! Oh well. Fingers crossed!!
All the best, Rafa.🍀💪❤️
