Rafael Nadal is aiming to capture his 6th title at the Madrid Open next week and just like yesterday he has been practicing under the watchful eye of his coach Carlos Moya.

  1. Rafa will face Kecmanovic or Bublik in the first round and possibly Pablo Busta in the second round. He could see Alcaraz in the quarters and Djokovic in the semi.

Alcaraz has a bye for the first round. I’m not sure how that happens

One step at a time for our Champ. Go Rafa!

    • Madrid has a field of 56 players for Singles main draw which means the first 8 seeded players will have a bye in the first round.

Since Medvedev and Berrettini are not playing, Alcaraz would get seeded two places higher. As a result, Alcaraz is seeded #7 in Madrid even though he is ATP#9.

Should he meet Nadal in QF, my expectation is that Nadal would silence the young gun without much difficulty as the red-hot Alcaraz is yet to learn all the tricks of the trade on clay. And it’s also the time for Nadal to bridge the small H2H deficit of 28-30 with Djokovic either in Madrid or in the near future.

      • Djoker should never have had the lead. Last FO would have been Rafa if the foot problem had not resurfaced and it would be tied. Anyway, look forward to seeing Rafa eraze this deficit. Djker is totally rusty and shouldnt pose a problem.

  2. Looking good . Lets get it on and take Madrid #7 .
This will be a great victory leading up to Rome and Paris . I am confident because barring the injury. RAFA would have won 4 tournaments and been undefeated .
