  1. Rafa served big and at a high percentage and this continued play will provide him with a good shot to win this open . I say this because it appears that the surface is very good for Rafa’s superior ground game . Anyway , I am optimistic but there re alot of matches need to be won before winning a
    this title .

  5. Notice how empty the stands are..notice how far
away the interviewer is from Rafa, plus all the
shee…people with masks on. Australia has
definately put the fear of covid over the top. And
what the heck does Raffa’s symptoms have to
do with him winning his 1st match?!

    • The interviewer appears to me to be six or seven feet from Rafa which is pretty standard social distancing. To me people wearing masks is a good sign for all concerned. Australia as a whole has done better with the pandemic than most countries probably because the government has taken public health seriously.

I also think that Rafa having been sick with covid for seven days just before the first of the year is a big part of the story. I am amazed and very pleased that he has played so well under these circumstances.

    • Apparently only 50 percent crowd capacity is allowed in each court, but there are less people because many have stayed away due to Covid. Everyone attending has been asked to wear a mask when watching a match, although it isn’t compulsory.
I hope attendance improves as the days go on.
