Rafael Nadal is aiming to capture his 6th title at the Madrid Open next week and just like in previous days he has been practicing under the watchful eye of his coach Carlos Moya. Luckily, his physio Rafael Maymo did a good shoulder treatment during yesterday’s practice so our champ is able to hit the ball hard as usual.

Nadal is set to make Madrid debut on Wednesday, hopefully in the day session: “No way I am going to play at night”, he laughed.
Rafa would love to watch the Champions League match between Chelsea and Real Madrid on TV which starts at 9:00 PM.

Nadal says Madrid is the most difficult event for him because of the altitude: “It’s difficult to control the ball. But I had a lot of great runs here in the past and I hope to be ready.

Feliciano Lopez on Nadal: “Not many 34-year-old players can think of being where he is right now. Rafa just gets better and better. He will stay on tour for a while longer. He may be the greatest player ever.

Thiem on Nadal: “He’s improving his game constantly. I first played him in 2014 French Open, seven years ago. Since that time he improved every part of his game. That’s why he’s such a great role model and he keeps winning.

Nadal recalls his best Madrid memory: “The 2005 final against Ivan Ljubicic. Unforgettable and emotional. The match costed me a few months of my career. I broke my feet but it was worth it. The day after I could not even walk.”
Thanks for sharing, Margo.🙏
Best of luck to Rafa.🍀❤️

Nadal: “I miss my youth. I am not nostalgic, but I look back to all my career memories. As the years go on, you celebrate the wins in a different way. Hopefully I will keep enjoying myself as long as possible.”
I have watched a bit of TC coverage of Madrid Open, and the sound is not synced with video. Has anyone else noticed this? ‘Sure hope it is fixed before Rafa plays.
