I ❤️ the last one the most, 20-20 in 2020 😉
Appreciation to Jelena Djokovic for her kind words to Rafael Nadal, his family, and his team. Roger, Rafa, and Novak make this tennis era sublime. Just breathe and savour the moment. It is a respite
from the din and drama around the world-a reminder of the resiliency and strength of the human spirit.
For two hours and forty-one minutes, we escaped the COVID cloud🙏Light up that Tour-Rafael Nadal
deserves it and more❤️
Umm, is that the tweet in which she did not congratulate Rafa? She congratulated Rafa’s family, team, and his fans but not Rafa?
Way to go Champ! Thanks for the great morning watching you deliver a Master Class in tennis, sportsmanship, determination! Vamos!
My heart rejoices, but I’m in tears……….of joy.
Deliriously happy for Rafa!
Was toe-to-toe with the match last night, and not once (mind you) did I feel nervous. Rafa was relaxed, responding to almost every shot dished out by Djokovic. And Rafa responded with aplomb the few times he was tested.
In the third and final set, there was a point when it could have gone the Serbian’s way, Rafa was steadfast and won 7-5.
Twitter reactions from everywhere always mentioned not only the ridiculous 13 wins but also the kind of person Rafa is and have been all these years.
Finally, while the Spanish national anthem was playing, our hero was first pensive then there were tears. His speech touched on the crisis the world had, and continue to face, and in so many words referred to his hesitation to celebrate as much as he would have wished.
His thoughts were for others in the world, despite this being his unmatched moment in history.
I salute Rafa for the great human being that he is.
Very well described with such a nice words. I always get tears whenever he wins or loses being more emotional about such a wonderdul athlete and human being on and off the court. He is an inspiration to me and many people in the world which i strongly believe. Congrarltutaions Rafa for capturing 13th French open and having 20 majors tie with Roger who is your very good friend and rivarly from long time. Sky is the time limit and you will win more as long as you are healthy. Have a wonderful time with your family on this beautiful celebration. VAMOS RAFA!!!
OMG Impressive!! it’s real not a dream !!! Congratulations Champion you made my day <3 Long life Rafa
Congratulations, Rafa! I’m so happy that you won this match. You did not just win, you won with an incredible result! Enjoy your unforgettable success!
¡Enhorabuena! Me siento muy feliz. Has convertido mi triste domingo en un domingo feliz. ¡Disfruta de tu éxito increíble! Te lo mereces. ¡Cuídate mucho!
Great playing on Raf’s part. Novak never had a chance. Very glad for Rafael!! That’s why heis the “King of Clay”. Enjoy the win.
Sono felicissima per rafael. 13 titoli al roland garros wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow
Following is Roger’s congratulatory message to Rafa:
“I have always had the utmost respect for my friend Rafa as a person and as a champion. As my greatest rival over many years, I believe we have pushed each other to become better players. Therefore, it is a true honor for me to congratulate him on his 20th Grand Slam victory. It is especially amazing that he has now won Roland Garros an incredible 13 times which is one of the greatest achievements in sport. I also congratulate his team because no one can do this alone. I hope 20 is just another step on the continuing journey for both of us. Well done Rafa. You deserve it.”
YIKES, looks as if Roger has no plans to retire just yet. LOL
Very classy comments from Roger. I get a bit tired of the constant “Who is the GOAT?” debate – I wish everyone could accept that they are both true greats, and Nole as well. I thought that was a lovely message.
Yes, a lovely message. I think it helps that both Rafa and Roger are comfortable in their skin. They don’t crave the superficial.
RAFA ROCKED PARIS
It’s probably true that all of the big 3 pushed each other, but this isn’t the best worded message, almost giving himself credit for Rafa’s achievement. To sound more sincere, he might have said he’s happy for his friend, Rafa.
I think Roger is hoping for a 2017-like comeback.
Respectfully, I beg to differ jas_uk. Roger has always given Rafa credit for making him a better player. Roger also said he expects his Grand Slam total to be surpassed.
I don’t see where in his message he is taking credit for Rafa’s achievement?
Margo, in reply to your comment below – it’s the word “honor” that I think sounds out of place. Maybe it’s just me, but I expect that word in something like an acceptance speech, “it’s an honour to receive this”. I would guess that Roger is actually happy for Rafa and I think they have great respect for each other, but as I said, I don’t think that statement was well-worded. It was probably written by a PR person and I’m sure Roger will send Rafa his congratulations personally.
jas_uk, I too zoned in on the word “honor.” And it does seem out of place but the entire statement seems stiff but Roger can be quite stiff. By stiff I mean he isn’t the effusive type, in public anyway.
Thank you for being Rafa at his best today!!Nothing could make me happier. Good triumphs!! You are wonder/ ful as a human being!!!
just imagine the irony RAFA GETS HIS 20TH IN 2020 I JUST DON’T HAVE WORDS EXCEPT,, CONGRATS
Roger’s congratulatory remarks to Rafa are so classic Roger. It’s all over Twitter.
Stay mentally en physically healthy rafa watch out for the virus.
Rafa put out a one word message on Instagram this morning … “Ready”
And ready he was!
Now Roland Garros .. Make with the statue!!!
We’re waiting……
“Ready.” LOL, thanks for that Marileena. I would love to have seen that but barely have time for Twitter.
So happy for Rafa❤️❤️
incredible show you performed today. I’m sure that today you showed not only the world bit yourself, that you have the key to dominate Novak, so keep going on this way for a huge start in 2021. For the rest of the year: recover, stay resistent vs the virus ( your family too) and give us more of these moments next year. un abrazo muy fuerte. Saludos de Alemania, Isabel
I was crying with happiness for Rafa , his team, Maria and all his family on this amazing victory . I have never seen him play better, a change of tactics and a calm approach from game one . He was incredible and shell shocked Novak .
I think that Carlos Moya is a very good tactician and Rafa is always willing to adapt . I was in Roland Garros on Friday for the semi finals and Carlos watched 2 sets of the Novak v Stefanos match .
Sadly my tickets for the final were cancelled , first time I missed being at the final for many years .
Now it’s Rafa time, who lit up Paris with fantastic tennis . Thirteen French Open titles , incredible record . Eiffel Tower will light up with the Spanish colours .
Congratulations to you Rafael Nadal. You are and always will be my very FAVORITE tennis player. You are remarkable in character and talent. I love you and God bless you. Stay safe, healthy and have much peace.
:Love Mary Lynn
So happy for Rafa and his team/family! VAMOS Rafa, congratulations! Recover and relax xoxo Stay safe
