The two have met 12 times, with Rafal leading their H2H series 8-4. Tsonga won their only grass-court matchup at the 2011 Queen’s Club.
Rafa’s coach Francisco Roig on the match:
Rafa and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga know each other well. Tsonga possesses a strong serve and powerful groundstrokes. He plays at another level when the stakes and emotions are high, and he’s shown his grass-court prowess in the past. Rafa will need to perform at his best again if he’s to get past Tsonga and into the fourth round. Everything happens so fast on grass and if you let your foot off the pedal for a moment or lose focus, things can spiral out of control very quickly. From start to finish, Rafa must be 100 per cent in control and fully attentive. That’s easy for me to say, of course, but if anyone can perform in that manner for the entirety of a match, it’s Rafa.
GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!
