(AP) – Rafael Nadal advanced to the third round of the Australian Open with a comfortable victory over Matthew Ebden (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) on Wednesday to move to No. 3 on the list of match wins at the Australian Open in the professional era, and extended his record of never losing a second-round match at Melbourne Park.
The win improved 2009 champion Rafa’s win-loss record to 57-12 at the Australian Open, surpassing Stefan Edberg’s mark of 56 wins.
Rafa has opened with back-to-back wins over Australians and takes on another one in the next round. He will face Alex de Minaur, who battled past Swiss qualifier Henri Laaksonen 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3.
