Rafael Nadal has moved up to seventh in the rankings despite losing 6-2, 6-2 to world number one Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s Beijing final.

Andy Murray returned to world No. 2 for this week above Roger Federer but the Swiss can immediately restore his position if he defends his title in Shanghai.

Kevin Anderson is quietly having the best year of his career. The South African has just broken into the top 10 for the first time.

With just 130 points separating Rafa (3,970) and No. 5 Tomas Berdych(4,100), the pair will be joined by a cast of contenders at this week’s Shanghai Rolex Masters.

  2. “Sosa” and “move in” , both sound like a joke. I know perfectly well about the ranking points and I see that much better the you. I have not any idea why are you still around here when you should be on “Federerfans” website crying his loss…..lol.
And also I have not any idea why they allow you posting here, it’s ridiculous

    • Carol. your assumption that I am Federer fan is radiculous. I’ve been Rafa’s fan for the last 10 years. We (move in, j beer, myself and other that don’t remember their names) are the true fan of Rafa and you and the other hooray-gangs are his true enemies. You cheer for his losses and we become concerned. Plus you have no right and authority to tell us where we should go and what we should write.

      • I have the right to say what I’m thinking same like you, your constantly negative comments (same like move in and beer) only are showing what I’ve said.

    • Djokovic learned from Nadal to beat Nadal.
Now, Nadal must eat humble pie and learn from Djokovic to beat Djokovic.

The Great Thinker speaks only the truth and does not care whose ox is gored.

  3. It’s incredible that Rafa playing worse than ever is still #7 ranked. Can you imagine if he would be playing just a little bit better?. And more incredible is those Federer fans who now are also Dkokovic fans lol (and we know why) are still so focused on Rafa and they are coming here to make such ridiculous comments, What a patethic obsession!

    • Yeah right. You nailed it. I always root for the #1 ranked player, regardless of who it is. If they drop in the rankings, I drop them like a hot potato, and root for the new #1. Because that’s how I roll. LOL

    • Carol: Do you know a thing about tennis ranking points? Your comment shows your total ignorance. Rafa is still # 7 because he uses up his previous points. It is similar to a situation that a person loses his/ her job and still can afford for the living because he/ she is using up his savings. As the savings of that person eventually will dry up so the Rara’s points.

  4. Great post by Great Thinker.

Novak has the fire in the belly, which apparently, he stole from Rafa.

Novak is open to new strategies, tactics and ideas from any and all sources, whereas Rafa foolishly relies on his know-nothing uncle for all suggestions and advice.

Novak leaves no stone unturned in his quest to be the greatest player of all time. Rafa, not so much.

That, my friends, is the difference between winning and losing. Between being one of the best players ever, and being The GOAT.

  5. The truth of the matter is that Djokovic did not just become the unbeatable No 1 t(hat he is now) overnight. Rather the open hatred shown towards him on this site, it would rather have been wise for everybody here including Rafa’s management team to instead ‘ANALYSE’ his game and his evolution.

Djokovic took some deliberate steps preparatory to his break-out 2011 year to show that he is a man on a mission. What did he do?
    1. He overhauled his diet and became gluten-free.(as he was always retiring from matches)
    2. In spite of (1) above, and when Nadal still continued to whip him badly, he rejigged his coaching crew for the umpteenth time. When he lost to Nadal in the 2013 FO & 2013 USO, he felt totally downcast and popularly remarked that ”…this is not where I should be” He went on to engage Boris Becker.
    3. In addition to (2) above, he also embraced Yoga exercise to improve his mental concentration/prowess to overcome ”choking effects” at crucial moments in matches, especially the narrow loss to Nadal in the 2013 FO.

All these DELIBERATE changes, ironically prompted by Novak’s desire to stop Nadal’s domination of the game, have now produced the unstoppable Djokovic, the human machine, The Serbinator who thrashes everybody at will, even after he’s married with a kid!

But, is Djokovic really INVINCIBLE? The answer is ofcourse a capital NO!!!!

But to turn the table against Djokovic, Nadal must also urgently embark on the following DELIBERATE action steps(as ”working hard” in practice sessions will never solve the Djokovic conundrum;afterall, Djokovic also works hard in practice sessions):

    1. Nadal must urgently add to his coaching crew.
    2. Nadal seems to tire easily now and sweats too much,. We advise he should urgently review his diet with the help of a nutritionist/dietician.
    3. Nadal must remain 100% committed to Tennis. Playing golf, gambling/poker etc must be urgently dispensed with altogether.
    4. He needs to also embrace YOGA exercises too to check nervousness and improve mental strength.
    5. He must embrace some spirituality, that is, seek divine intervention by praying and fasting to seek God’s favor. That is, he must do away with his atheist beliefs. Djokovic believes in God and always prays and fast too. It is God that made every human being and is the unseen force behind successes and failures. That Nadal won 9 FOs is not b y accident at all. It’s because Nadal received God’s favor. It is actually the Spiritual that controls the physical. God has shown Rafa so much favor and He’s not happy that Rafa continues to deny His existence.

If Nadal can do all of these things, his glory days will return and he would be No 1 again. To defeat Djokovic, like we analysed above, will require more than hardwork. It will involve a deliberate, pragmatic and continuous change to Rafa’s existing PHYSICAL and SPIRITUAL regimen.

We wish Rafa all the best. Vamos Rafa……..

    • Agree with everything but number 5. He needs to believe in himself.
BUT I don’t see him to bring any change to his team and his game. As uncle Toni said ” we are from a small Island and close-minded” . It is sad to see he is lost and unable or unwilling to change.

      • Toni also said “it’s too expensive for Rafa to hire a new coach.” No joke. He actually said that.

    • I fully share with the observations. Rafa has to train himself to service ACES at critical moments.
      Best wishes for all times

  6. Rafa’s comment shows that he’s really quite satisfied just being “one of the best players in the world”(whatever that means). I could never in a million years imagine Serena Williams or Jimmy Connors or Steffi Graf or Bjorn Borg or many other current and past champions saying that. They wouldn’t even think it, much less say it – and say it publicly. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

      • Rafa uncle always tells him he’s not the best player and he plays very bad tennis ! To make Rafa work harder so if Rafa says he’s one of the best tennis players he really is to win 14 slams at his age when he won them an olympic gold medal he played amazing turning pro at such a young age what do you expect his body is wearing and tearing and slowed down. Rafa is 29 and fought battles upon battles to beat Roger and win slams.Tennis age to retire is 28 so be appreciative of Rafa on tour

  7. AS I SAID YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY, KEEP GOING . YOU PLAYED SO WELL HOW IS THE FOOT REST A LITTLE PLEASE, BEST WISHES FOR SHANGHAI YOUR CLIMBING UP THE LIST GOD BLESSXXX

  8. Far too humble. I feel rhat Rafael should be more confident about his self. You would never that type of comment from other players. But then that is what makes him so popular, no big ego. Hope he is okay for Shanghai

    • Yes, a certain #1 has tried to emulate Rafa’s attitude, but he just can’t change who he is.
Hope he continues his upward and forward playing but due to a (for a change) difficult draw… If it had been done after Beijiing he would have been where Ferrer is, though on Djoke’s side. It will be a shame if he doesn’t get to play some more games, though thought he managed to return most of Djoke’s serves. Vamos!
