PHOTOS: Rafael Nadal defeats Milos Raonic to reach the Sony Open semifinals in Miami

Rafael Nadal defeated Canadian Milos Raonic 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to stamp his ticket to the semifinals at the Sony Open in Miami. He will face off against Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

The match was even on both sides, until Rafa double-faulted twice serving at 4-5, giving Raonic the first set 4-6. The second set was Rafa’s. Up two double breaks, he took it at 6-2. The third set saw both players even, with Raonic giving up fewer points, until Rafa broke at 4-3 and consolidated to keep his lead. He took the set at 6-4.

A big congratulations to Rafa, who is one match away from the final, where he will attempt to win his first Miami title. Vamos, Rafa!

  4. Well done to Rafael, bad for my nerves when he double faulted to hand the first set to Raonic. The second restored my equilibrium and the third a little nerve wrecking but our champion came good and won. Every player has a bad match so I hope that this Rafael’s, The Miami crowd loves him, Waves of positive wishes v TB
