Rafael Nadal defeated Lukas Rosol in the first round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, 6-2, 7-6(7). The win marks the first meeting of the two players since Rafa’s fateful loss in Wimbledon 2012, his last match before a 7 month hiatus from the tour. This was also officially the first match of the 2014 season. Rafa’s next opponent will be Tobias Kamke. VAMOS RAFA!

Great win Rafa. Quite nice opening of the 2014 season, to beat the man who ended your 2012 season. This puts him back into place, I think we can all agree that Rosol handled his 2012 Wimbledon R2 quite in an unsportive manner (note his Tweets one year later). Luckily I did not see him spitting today and making disgusting sounds like he did back in June 2012. Vamos Rafa!
