Rafael Nadal defeats David Ferrer in exhibition match in Lima, Peru

In the first of five exhibition matches planned for South America this month, Rafael Nadal played against compatriot David Ferrer at the Jockey Club in Lima, Peru. The exhibition was held on a clay court in front of an enthralled audience, and as promised, both players were out to not just put on a show, but also to play real tennis. Rafa won the match, 7-5, 6-4; however, that was the least important part of the match. The ordeal seemed like a ton of fun for the players and the spectators, and not nearly as tense as the final at Roland Garros, which was the last clay court match played between Rafa and David this year. Congratulations to both players!

  1. Rafa is a gem, a whole lot better than you know who? I don’t like it when Rafa has to play against David because I have a soft spot for David and he is a great player but Rafa mostly too strong for him.

  2. Yeah, what a great match, too bad I couldn’t be there, but it’s great that you & David can play together, #1 & #3 in the world, love Rafa & David, best of luck for you both in 2014….respectfully from a tennis fan in San Diego, CA

  3. Both are amazing and Rafa will always be most peoples favorite but David is always at the top of my list!

  4. They are both tremendous players- but Rafa will always be my favourite- today tomorrow and as long as he plays tennis competitively! Vamos Rafa!!!
