ATP Rankings, Aug 12: Rafael Nadal moves to No. 3

The ATP rankings were updated today, and Rafael Nadal has moved to the No. 3 spot in the singles rankings. The victory in Montreal has given Rafa another boost in the battle for the No. 1 spot in singles. He already leads in the Race to London, with 1420 more points than Djokovic in the second place and 2760 more than Andy Murray in the third.

Well done Rafa!
ATP Rankings – August 12, 2013

Rafa is looking to finish as the year-end No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Singles Rankings for the first time since 2010, and for the third time overall.

In his own words:

“[There] remains three Masters 1000s, one Grand Slam, [Barclays ATP World Tour Finals] – more favourable surfaces for him [Djokovic] than for me. So we are talking about 6,500 points.

We have to realise how many points I have to win to be No. 1. I think I will not be No. 1 if I have less than 10,000 points at the end of the season. Today I have 8,000. I need to win minimum 2,000 more. That’s very difficult in this part of the season, but I’m going to try.”

GOOD LUCK AND VAMOS RAFA!
