The 2026 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced today, with Netflix’s four-part documentary series Rafa receiving a nomination for Outstanding Documentary Series.
Premiering on May 29, 2026, Rafa chronicles Rafael Nadal’s final season on the ATP Tour, offering unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the 22-time Grand Slam champion, his family and his team.

The series was directed by Zach Heinzerling, who also served as an executive producer alongside David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jon Weinbach, Benito Perez-Barbadillo and Dan Marks. Producers include Andrew Helms, Timothy Moran and Connie Honeycutt, with Tamara Rosenberg serving as co-executive producer.
The winners of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Monday, September 14, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony has been moved from its traditional Sunday slot due to NBC’s NFL coverage.
Congratulations to Rafa and everyone who helped bring Rafa to the screen. Best of luck at the Emmy Awards; this nomination is truly well deserved!

Congratulations on the Emmy nomination. We appreciate your achievements even more👍🙏❣️
I miss Rafael Nadal on the tennis court He missed a lot of big events due to injuries. I really believe if he didn’t have a broken messed up foot during most of his tennis career, along with all of his knee problems – I believe he would have over 25 grand slam wins to his credit. There are many up and coming new tennis stars. All great to watch
Best news I have heard in a long time! Vamos Rafa and crew!
