What Is Roland Garros Preparing for Rafael Nadal’s Grand Farewell?

For years, Rafael Nadal wasn’t ready for farewells — because he was still fighting. At Roland-Garros 2024, he came to compete, not to say goodbye. No ceremonies, no tributes — just focus, fire, and the hope of one more run.

But now, in 2025, things are different. Rafa is ready.

Tournament Director Amelie Mauresmo has confirmed that Roland Garros will host a special tribute to Rafa on May 25th, at the end of the day session on Court Philippe-Chatrier. It will be, in her words, “a surprise — first of all for Rafa, and then for everyone” — though Rafa is very much aware something is coming.

“It will be at his image,” said Mauresmo. “A special, special tribute for him — because that’s what he deserves, with the history between him and the tournament.”

A Farewell He Deserves

For the first time, Rafa has openly said he wants a tribute at Roland Garros — a place that defined his career and where he defined greatness.

“I’m not someone who likes tributes,” Rafa said recently. “I’m quite quiet. But if there is going to be something, then it has to be there — because Roland Garros means so much to me.”

And how could it not?
14 titles. 112 wins. A 20-year reign of clay dominance. He didn’t just play in Paris. He wrote history there, in red dust and unbreakable will.

Why This Moment Matters?

This isn’t just closure for Rafa.
It’s closure for us — his fans, his fellow players, the tournament, and the sport itself.

On May 25th, the court will belong to our champ one last time. Not to compete, but to celebrate. To remember. To thank.

So get ready. Bring tissues, bring flags, bring your voice! Vamos!
