Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer Break the Internet with Louis Vuitton Campaign

Louis Vuitton has revived its Core Values campaign featuring Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the campaign captures the tennis champions atop Italy’s Dolomites, fitting the tagline “There are Journeys that turn into Legends.” The tennis superstars are shown 3,000 meters high, with Roger carrying a Monogram Christopher backpack and Rafa a Monogram Eclipse version.

I know how many important icons have been part of this campaign, so for me personally, being part of it is something that I am very proud of, especially sharing it with Roger. He has been my biggest rival and now a close friend today.

Rafa Nadal

It’s a unique opportunity to be working on this campaign with Rafa. How we could be such rivals and then at the end of our careers be beside each other doing this campaign has been very cool. And where we are here today, I think it also embodies everything: at the peak of the mountains. For us it is something meaningful and special.

  1. Let’s hope Rafa is smart enough to withdraw. Don’t make his final memory of Roland Garros a trashing from Sascha. This draw is just so wrong.

    • Rafa will make the best decision for himself. He has been training very hard and is ready for the match. He will do it on his terms. Your opinion and pessimism have little merit.

    • Rafa will have to play well from the start, and I believe he can do it. It will be on Philippe chatrier court and hopefully it will be warm and sunny!

      • I think zverev is more edgy about facing Rafa in the first round of Roland Garros than vice Versa.

Just think, medvedev would have been seeded #4 to face Rafa in round 1 instead of Zverev had Zverev not won Rome. Medvedev and Zverev flipped rankings after Rome.

Rafa is going to face this challenge courageously and ferociously, and I hope Rafa will get the victory against Zverev. It will be a match that the world of tennis will be captivated to see.

    • A nightmare draw for Zverev:) He was very scary the last time he played Rafa at RG and he got injured very badly.

Good luck whatever our champ Rafa decides to do. Rafa will not stand down from this challenge.

  2. I am super excited about Thursday’s draw at Roland Garros and hoping Rafa decides to play and wins! Can you imagine the packed stadiums for all of Rafa’s matches and feel and hear all the loud supporting cheers and love he will get? It could be at least 10 times the cheering and adoring fans that we saw at Rome outside waiting for him. Good luck, Rafa!

  3. Wow, I read some amazing articles of fans flocking to Roland Garros and waiting hours to get into the stadium to watch Rafa practice. Very endearing are the words they express the sincere and highest appreciation of what Rafa has achieved at Roland Garros and how much they will support him. They treat him like a member of their family and one said that Rafa is even bigger than the tournament itself😀💪🏆. Incredible! Hope to see Rafa play and get the most admirable support from his fans at Roland Garros, win or lose…Rafa deserves the best accolades and will appreciate their tremendous support!

      • I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Rafa is healthy enough to play at Roland Garros and decides to do so. Even more so that he continues to win, win, win!

  4. I just read something on Twitter that said that Rafa did not look good at practice and cut the session short. No idea wether this is accurate or not. The Draw is Thursday. I suppose we will know soon.

On a happier note there is an excellent Athletic article in the New York Times about what it’s like for other top players to face Rafa on clay. Try to read it if you can.

    • That report is false. The journalist believed a random fan without checking the situation. Rafa completed his training beating Korda in the set and then greeted Rune who was next in on Chatrier. There are photos and videos to back this up.

According to Rafa’s team there is still no decision on whether he will play. He can withdraw after the draw comes out without messing up the schedule as he is unseeded.

      • When will Rafa have to let them know whether he will compete at Roland Garros? You figure it’s got to be soon as the draw is tomorrow and the tournament starts on Sunday. I’m abit worried that he and his team still haven’t decided. I think if he was feeling really good and competitive, he would have confirmed by now.

  5. Rafa has arrived on Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros. Amazing welcome reception! Welcome back, Rafa and best of luck!

  6. This is such a cool video featuring Rafa and Roger and I couldn’t help being moved when I first saw it. I love the heartfelt words for one another – nothing but mutual respect and friendship. These two legends are so comfortable in each other’s company. They reflect honestly and positively on their respective journeys and how they want to be remembered.
Rafa’s so funny and endearing ” I don’t feel my ears, but I’m enjoying a lot….” I was waiting for the moment when Roger had the giggles when Rafa was talking, but it didn’t happen. Maybe we’ll see it in an unedited version at some point.

  7. I started watching tennis and learn more about tennis because of this two names and then never stop watching love them play…. And when Novak came into the scene although he is good too but he look so much like a devil or the bad guy too bad….

  8. Fun campaign which brings Roger and Rafa together-Roger looks very comfortable in the
Dolomites-how about another campaign in the Spanish sun-on a yacht? Enjoy, guys🥰

  11. Nothing could have made me happier on the eve of Roland Garros than this article on my two favorite tennis icons of all times in men’s professional tennis. Nadal and Federer. For me, having watched them both for more than twenty years, they are simply the best.
