Rafael Nadal’s Australian Open journey has been cut short by an injury suffered at the Brisbane International, which was meant to be his lead-up to Melbourne Park. Following an MRI on Sunday night, Rafa confirmed a “micro tear on a muscle” from his match against Jordan Thompson and will now return to Spain for treatment.

Twitter filled with heartfelt messages for Rafa, and on Instagram, well-wishes for a speedy recovery poured in from notable figures like Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Nicolas Kiefer, Sabine Lisicki, and Matthew Ebden.

  1. Rafa, so sorry for your setback, but so thankful it is not a major issue that would require surgery. You will recover & be better than ever, I have no doubt. You are the ultimate fighter & I send you prayers & God’s healing graces! 😍

  2. So sorry to hear that,Rafa! Hope it heals well. Take your time to be really fully fit. Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀❣️

  3. Lovely to see great support and goid wishes fir Rafa, as always. It’s just bad luck that Rafa got the muscle tear, but it was a sign that he wasn’t fit enough to play gruelling matches so soon. Of course, we don’t want this injury to occur at all, but it’s better that it happened now than at the AO, where it might have caused greater damage, closer to RG.
Stay positive and take care, Rafa. You will get there in the end.
