Rafael Nadal’s 2024 Brisbane Draw, Projections & Potential Opponents

The draw for the 2024 Brisbane International was completed today, unveiling the return of the 22-time Major champion, Rafael Nadal, after a year-long hiatus.

Rafa’s comeback kicks off against a qualifier in the first round. Unseeded following nearly a year off, our champ will play eighth seed Aslan Karatsev or Australian wild card Jason Kubler in the second round. Fourth seed Ugo Humbert lurks as a potential quarter-final opponent.

Rafa’s potential route to the final:

  • 1st round: Qualifier
  • 2nd round: Aslan Karatsev or Jason Kubler
  • Quarter-final: Ugo Humbert
  • Semi-final: Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Grigor Dimitrov
  • Final: Holger Rune, Sebastian Korda, Sebastian Baez or Ben Shelton

Projected quarterfinals:

  • Holger Rune vs Sebastian Korda
  • Ben Shelton vs Sebastian Baez
  • Aslan Karatsev vs Ugo Humbert
  • Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Grigor Dimitrov

Rafa’s last appearance in Brisbane was in 2017, when he progressed to the quarter-finals.

Main-draw action at the Brisbane International begins on 31 December.

    Shame Murray has Dimitrov in the first round. Woulda loved to see Rafa vs Murray. I think Dimitrov will beat Murray.
