WATCH: Rafael Nadal’s Latest Video Reveals Passion for Competing

22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal delivered on his promise by sharing another video, providing additional details about his return to the court.

In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rafa said:

“It’s been a long year in which I’ve gone through many phases, from trying to get back to compete in the clay season week after week, disappointment after disappointment. Then I had to decide to stop and say “enough” and look for a definite solution, which was surgery. Since then, everything has been a new horizon, a difficult path, but always with a hope of coming back.

Of course, I have had many doubts, of course, there were moments where it seemed impossible that this moment would come, but we’ve maintained the work spirit and hope, and I think I’m ready. I don’t know at what level, I don’t know what to expect, I have no idea, but I don’t care right now.

“I’m just happy to be back and with great excitement to make the effort that is necessary to have fun, and I believe that I will be competitive. I have finally had good training weeks at a level that allows me to have the possibility to compete again.

“I have gone through many phases, but today I think it’s time: I’m coming back in a tournament that I’ve played in the past, that I’m familiar with, a 250 tournament. I know it’s a difficult tournament, but I hope to be ready to compete; I don’t aspire to anything else, just to be competitive.”

Rafa kicks off the new season at the Brisbane International, commencing on December 31, before heading to Melbourne, the site of the hip injury that occurred 11 months ago.

  1. I can only believe Rafa’s words, the rest is just noise. Back on court, wanting to be
    competitive-what a great gift-thank you👏💪👍🤛🎾🍀❤️

  2. Thanks for the transcript RNF.
Rafa’s words is music to my ears. What thrills me most is him saying “….I believe that I will be competitive.” He just wants to experience the joy of being back on court, regardless of the initial level.
What annoys me greatly, is reading headlines such as this in the Daily Express today: “Rafa Nadal provides worrying update in new video message to supporters”. When I first read it I was worried thinking “Oh no please God…”, until I read the actual article and realised it was nothing of the sort. Then I reminded myself that it’s typical of the Express.
