Rafael Nadal Wins 14th Roland Garros Title, 22nd Career Grand Slam [PHOTOS]

Rafael Nadal won his 14th French Open title on Sunday, beating Casper Ruud in straight sets (6-3, 6-3, 6-0) in the 2022 men’s final. The championship adds to Rafa’s record for most French Open titles, and our champ now boasts an impressive 112-3 career record at Roland Garros. He has now won the men’s singles title at the French Open in 14 of the last 18 years.

With another clay-court trophy, Rafa now has 22 Grand Slam titles, two ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

After also winning the Australian Open in January, Rafa has claimed back-to-back major titles for the first time since 2010 – when he won the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in a row.

Two days after his 36th birthday, our champ becomes the oldest French Open men’s singles champion and surpasses fellow Spaniard Andres Gimeno, who won aged 34 in 1972.

  1. I have dreamt of that RG final after IW. I have seen how it went and i was surprised to hear that media was saying it’s their first time to meet. I checked their h2h and confirmed they have not played each other, but i knew i’ve watched them play. I have seen that ending, Rafa winning in straight sets. I’m really happy it happened! Lol! Congrats Rafa! Go get the Calendar Slam and then retire if you like, and enjoy the fruit of your labor!

  2. I too am thrilled with Rafa’s 14th. I really did not think he could make it. The key match was his brilliant win over Novak. I was also surprised that Alcatraz played poorly against Zverev. We will never know the results of his Zverev match but Rafa’s concern for his injured opponent said it all about what a great person Rafa is. I did think Rafa would beat Ruud if his foot permitted it. I like Casper so much, but he benefitted from the very unbalanced draw. I consider myself a proud Rafan and support whatever he decides to do from today on.

  3. I was expecting a closer match than that, but I’m not complaining! Ruud’s time will come, as will Alcaraz’s. What an amazing achievement for Rafa to win both the Australian Open and the French Open whilst having to deal with debilitating injuries. What an incredible man he is <3 .

  4. No fear and no doubt-you are the champion👏🫶🙏🏼❤️What a satisfying win, especially the win over
ND-we are forever proud. Enjoy, Rafael Nadal. You are, simply the Best🏆

  5. Over the moon, Rafa with happiness for you, your team and your family.

I was sitting in tenterhooks, hanging on to every word you uttered, waiting for the ‘R’ word.

Guess you’re enjoying yourself much too much to think about such things.

Of course it’s your call, always. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do.

ENJOY with your family and team!

  6. Enhorabuena Chanpion! 🏆 Thank you Rafa for not ending your career and for continuing to delight us!

  10. So thrilled there was no rain though the initial forecast was horrible with heavy rain and high humidity. It improved a lot yesterday though and beyond thrilled that Rafa won No 14. This was beyond belief. If decides to call it a day because of his foot, we should all understand and respect his decision. I sincerely hope he finds a solution but if not thank you Rafa for everything. So grateful for all the memories you have given us. Last but not the least comiserrations to Casper, he tried as hard as he could in two sets and is a class act. His speech was so gracious and humble. Thank you.
It was fitting the sun was shining as Rafa lifted the trophy

  11. What else can we now ask of Rafa?

Well done to Ruud for making it to the final, but Rafa was never going to be denied his 14/22.

    Congratulations to our champ!

  12. Vamos Rafa, you did it again. No words for that. #14 and #22….WOW❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
