Our champ lost first two sets but recovered to win 2-6, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 in five hours and 23 minutes. He is the first man in the Open Era to come back from two sets down in an Australian Open final to win the title.

15,000 fans watched this year’s Australian Open final at the Rod Laver Arena. Most of them were Rafans who were cheering loud and taking photos to mark the occasion of Rafa becoming the first man to win 21 majors.

His victory is even more remarkable considering Rafa flew to Australia with just two matches under his belt in the second half of 2021 because he was sidelined with a chronic foot injury that can be treated but not cured. He also had a bout of COVID-19.
