The new-look ATP Tour calendar intends to resume on Friday 14 August with the Citi Open, the ATP 500 event in Washington, D.C., followed by the Western & Southern Open, the Cincinnati ATP Masters 1000 event, to be hosted at Flushing Meadows, in the lead up to the US Open (31 August ā 13 September).
Following New York, the Mutua Madrid Open and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, ATP Masters 1000 events on clay in Madrid and Rome, respectively, will take place in September ahead of Roland Garros in Paris (27 September ā 11 October), which will also feature a singles qualifying draw the week prior.

Novak is getting slammed by every network in NY showing clips of his partying in clubs…playing basketball and planning the tournament which should never have taken place…. NIck K took a shot at his fellow players on Instagram …saying “This is not a joke!!!” … Patrick McEnroe was interviewed saying ” this has put a tough blow for tennis” … And Andy Murray had a press conference questioning whether officials at a tournament can keep the tournament truly safe ..

The US Open is 2 months away with very strict protocols in place ( which Novak openly criticized as too strict)… I guess he doesn’t think that now….

I agree with you Lorna… Rafa has taken this very seriously and heās not jeopardizing his health… I would bet even his buddies on the yacht with him were recently tested..
I definitely think this Adria situation will put a damper on future tournaments and the players decision as to which they choose to participate in… if at all..

No Djokovic wife has tested positive now too for Covid19. Praise be to God that our hero kept well away. I can nearly see that tennis is finished til 2021. All these players from Adria tour must isolate then if they get it…..Rafa my hero I think you wont need to defend your points…we will award you 2 GS and 4 Masters
It was only a matter of time before Novak tested positive. He and other affected players are lucky that the US Open and RG are far enough away for them to isolate and recover in time.
That said, who knows how many more associated people have tge virus and what effect will this have on the two remaining grand slams of the year and events leading up to them?
As Andy Murray said diplomatically, lessons must be learned from this.

Despite good intentions, the Djokovic tournament was foolish. No one is invincible. The only positive outcome is that everyone learns to take this pandemic seriously. Hopefully Novak and all who are affected as a result of this will completely recover. Stay safe and healthy all.

This is not surprising… I just hope he didn’t spread it to anyone on his trip back from Croatia as he bolted out of there saying he “feels fine.” instead of being tested there and then having to quarantine…

.Tennis is a game of skill but there is a certain amount of good luck involved,he has put potentially many thousands at risk because of his ignorance and arrogance,some possibly will die. I hope he learns from this mistake and to be humble like Rafa.and Roger.

Exactly right. You and I and many others commenting here trust science and the advice of medical experts.
Sadly some tennis players have chosen not to educate themselves or are willfully ignoring the recommendations. Beyond that they are also showing a lack of common sense and concern for others. Some of their coaches and other team members are older adults who could be more at risk. Really SMH in disbelief.
Pauline, unless each country can test and trace, the virus will keep spreading because they wonāt know where the virus is so people can quarantine or self isolate. That much is a certainty.
Being a small country New Zealand was lucky. They had no cases until four people were admitted to the country with the virus. Fortunately they were quickly identified.
The US is seeing record highs in some states.
I live in NYC and hope the test and trace method works here but if everyone is not tested I donāt see how it can succeed here. Only now are masks required on public transportation. It should have been mandatory sooner.

Am not expecting N.D. to ever admit to a positive test after the debacle he fronted. He certainly lacks the good judgment needed to continue as head of the player council.
All of the participants made a huge mistake. Remains to be seen if they learn from this. Thiem for one apparently has not. He is entered in another tournament. Should be self quarantining. Testing only indicates illness not exposure. Also false negatives are possible.
Very much hoping that Rafa and his friends are taking every precaution on their shore excursions in Ibiza.

So both Dimitrov and Coric have tested positive for coronavirus. No surprise! Watching the match between them, I noticed how lethargic Dimitrov was looking and, at the end of it, Coric even asked him if he was feeling ok. In the previous article, I commented on how it was irresponsible to hold the Adria tournament without any precautions and that i wouldn’t be surprised if anyone caught the virus. Now it’s panic stations as Djockovic and other went for testing.
Well, the chickens have come home to roost and I’m afraid that cancelling the final in Zadar yesterday was too little too late. Recklessness has its consequences! Who knows what effect this will have on the main tour.
Dimitrov positive test should force all sports to reconsider re-opening schedules. One positive result

I just heard on the evening news that Grigor Dimitrov has tested positive.
Sad for him and hope he recovers well. Many more young people are catching the virus lately.
MLB have shut down their training camps after a rash of positive tests. One of the European soccer leagues had to shut down after only 3 days back. This rush to get back to normal during a pandemic was bound not to end well.. All of the leagues should rethink their stances and put public health before profits.

Testing will test for current illness or previous illness. There is no test for exposure and thatās why people who have been exposed are directed to quarantine for 2-3 weeks.
There are two tests available for Covid-19; a diagnostic or viral test, and an antibody test.
A viral test tells you if you have a current infection.
An antibody test tells you if you had a previous infection.
