Rafael Nadal: “I was so scared for her. She was a super brave girl”

On-court interview with Rafael Nadal in the second round of the Australian Open 2020.

Rafa on striking the ball girl:

“For her, probably it was not a good moment. I was so scared for her, honestly. She was a super brave girl. That was one of the scariest moments when the ball struck her on the head. I remember a moment at Wimbledon many years ago, so I’m glad she’s all OK.”

  1. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN. RAFA YOU ARE TRULY A CHAMPION. YOUR LIL WORKS OF KINDNESS, MAKES YOU THE PERSON YOU ARE. GOD BLESS YOU. 💜💜💜💜💟💙💖

  2. Ball striking girl was not Rafa’s fault. However, it’s something the officials need to deal with. Not just laugh it off when someone, especially a kid, can be hit by a very hard hit ball. Wake up people.

  3. It was inappropriate for Sam Groth to “joke” that Rafa’s wife wouldn’t mind him kissing the ball girl. We are talking about an innocent peck given to a CHILD. It put Rafa in an awkward position to have to answer that. Cringe-worthy. Australia has more intelligent interviewers than this.

    • I thought so too, RR. Anyway, it was a scary moment. Hope the adorable girl is okay.❤️ What Rafa did was sweet!

You are right, Maria and Maribel were sitting side by side supporting Rafa. I watched the match in my room but didn’t get to watch the first set and beginning of second because TV was showing match of Kyrgios and Simon, understandable though.

Good luck and all the best to Rafa! My 17 sessions of tennis starts today……🤗

      • Hi Mimi,
Rafa is playing the day session today. Will you be able to attend or are your seats only for night? Hope you will be there to cheer him on.

      • Hi RR,

I have tickets for all sessions until the finals on Rod Laver Arena. I will be cheering for Rafa today and hopefully all the way!🤞 Thank you, RR🙏
