Rafael Nadal returns to World No.1 ranking

In a season that’s seen him win his 19th Grand Slam title—and more impressively, his 12th career title at the French Open—Rafael Nadal is the world No. 1 again.

Our champ returns to World No.1 today for the 197th week in his career. He takes the top spot back from Novak Djokovic.

Latest ATP Rankings, Monday November 4

# Player Name Points
 1 Rafael Nadal 9585
 2 Novak Djoković 8945
 3 Roger Federer 6190
 4 Daniil Medvedev 5705
 5 Dominic Thiem 5025
 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas 4000
 7 Alexander Zverev 2945
 8 Matteo Berrettini 2670
 9 Roberto Bautista Agut 2540
 10 Gaël Monfils 2530

From his very first day at No. 1 (August 18, 2008) to Monday (November 4, 2019), it has been exactly eleven years and 77 days.

Rafa will battle for the status of year-end number one at the Nitto ATP Finals together with Djokovic. A player can earn a maximum of 1,500 points in London by posting an undefeated 5-0 record.

Rafa’s participation in the season-ending event still remains in doubt after he withdrew from his Paris semifinal with Denis Shapovalov due to an abdominal injury.

  1. Congratulations Rafa. So proud of all you have achieved. Praying you will be well enough to play in year end tournament. Please though don’t go so hard at your practice sessions. You seem to get most of your injuries on the practice courts. Love you and your game so much. Tennis loses its appeal when you are not competing. Praying that you end year as number one.

  2. Rafa’s team announced that the MRI results should be ready tomorrow [Tuesday] morning and a decision on Rafa’s participation in the WTF will be made.
