Roger Federer: Rafael Nadal deserves all the praise he’s been getting

Roger Federer has nothing but respect for Rafael Nadal and what he has achieved in 2019:

Winning two Slams in a  year is unbelievable. Rafa had to change something after dealing with issues on hard courts and he did it. After Monte Carlo he started dominating. With him I am never surprised because I know what he is a capable of.

Rafa couldn’t be more pumped up for this event. He just won the US Open. It would have been so easy for him to say, ‘Look, I need a break.’ But he said, ‘No, my break’s coming afterwards. I push it all aside, and I’m doing this because I really believe in the concept of the Laver Cup. And I believe in you guys.’

You spend a week with Rafa and you look at his intensity. How can he find a balance? Because otherwise you get crazy. When his training session ends, he is relaxed. I was surprised by how he always looks for chances. He returns from behind and forward, with slice and top spin.

  3. You guys have already said it all. So glad to be among you on this fansite! All the best to the 2 greats, both of whom will set official records! But there are no statistics for how players treat each other. Competitors from tennis as well as other competitive sports might well pay attention to and learn from their mutual supportive relationship and friendship!

  4. What is amazing about this is that 2 of the biggest adversaries on the court. Are such good friends off the court. The mutual love and respect makes even the fans humble and love and respect the adversary.
It does not surprise me that Rafa keeps his promise to Laver cup. That is who he is. It is something awesome to see them both on the same side and enjoying each other’s company. Long back I remember Rafa saying that the language barrier made a close friendship between them difficult. He even conquered that demon, now here we get to enjoy them both on the same side.

  5. I’m really looking forward to seeing the two of them again on the same team. I hope they play double’s together like the last time they both did this. It is amazing to see both of two of them together having a great time and enjoying their friendship and respecting one another. They are the best. I love Borg when he was still playing and I never thought I would love another player as much ;but Rafa and Roger what can I say WOW and the best part is that Borg is their Captain so I have it all wrapped in a nice little package to watch and enjoy

  6. I am a diehard Rafa fan but appreciate the opportunity to cheer on Rafa, Roger and the rest of their team members at the same event thanks to the Laver Cup!

    All the best!❤️

  7. Rafa and Roger are both kings of the sport, both on the court and off. I don’t think any two people in the future will ever replace their sportsmanship combined with their respect for each other and their incredible ability on the court plus their love and respect for the game of tennis. I feel so fortunate to have been able to follow them both for the past 17 years during their prime. Amazing!!!!!!! They deserve everything the sport has done to enrich their lives and vice-versa.

    • Well said Betty….
As the boys have gotten older, they have gotten even closer….
      It’s a beautiful thing to watch…

  8. I’ve been looking at all the videos I can find of Rafa since he arrived in Geneva. Every video is of him, with Roger, laughing, or tête-a-tête, or practicing. A non-stop smile. He seems to have become reinvigorated and I’m so happy for him. Wishing him a great time.

I know he has made Roger pretty happy by keeping his promise. Laver is three days so I’m glad Rafa said he would rest afterwards.

    RAFA NULLI SECUNDUS

  9. Rafa and Roger the 2 greatest and most humble guys in tennis today, it sure is nice watching them both play they both work very hard and are very humble in winning and losing they both make the sport proud.

      • I can’t believe Rafa is playing after that grueling U.S. Open. He is so humble and respects the Laver cup. It looks so good to watch him and Roger relaxing and having fun together. This week brings them all closer. It will be a sad day when they retire. I am so glad I got to see Roger in person. My dream is to see Rafa he is why I watch tennis!❤️

  10. Rodger and Rafa…what a pair!!! Tennis will not be the same when they retire. I’m just
glad I got to witness such greatness from them both!!!
