Rafa:

The key is play well. That simple. If I am playing well, I going to have hopefully my chances to return a couple of points and give me chances.

I know against big servers like them, chances are not a lot, so you need to be ready to expect a very tough one. But I need to be focused with my serve, as always.

I need to be ready to accept the challenge that brings the competition in days like these ones. And I hope to be ready to play my highest level, because that’s what I going to need.

Cilic on playing Rafa:

I’m going to have to create chances with Rafa. He’s definitely having a great season and playing really well.

It’s going to be on me, on my own side of the court to try to serve well, be a little bit aggressive and try to impose my game as much as I can.

Our champ has held in all 27 of his service games and he is the only singles player in either side of the draw that has not surrendered a break of serve. He has spent just over four hours on court, a far cry from the physically grueling matches he endured prior to retiring with a knee injury in the semis at last year’s US Open.

Good luck & Vamos Rafa!

  3. I somehow feel that Rafa may just end up not wining this US Open EVEN with Novak Djokovic no more in the race. Why? Rafa has not altogether impressed me thus far in the competition.

If we are going to be sincere, the following players have impressed the most and they are listed below in descending order of probability to win the title:

    1. Roger Federer

    2. Danill Medvedev

    3. Andrey Rublev

Roger started poorly, but he seems to have suddenly gained momentum particularly with his destruction of David Goffin who is by no means a push over. Danill Medvedev has superbly impressive and showing excellent form and aggression. Andrey’as performance especially his straight sets victory over Nick ”the mentally deranged” kyrgios was a show stopper. He looks like a man on a mission.

I won’t be surprised if indeed any one of Danill or Andrey wins the title this time around. But can they carry the fire till the end?

    We shall see………cheers

    • Rafa has only himself to concern himself with . We know if Rafa us playing well , there s no one who can beat him including Federer . I expect Rafa to beat Cilic in straight sets no contest . After that , home sailing with as powerful serve and masterful baseline game mixed with excellent volleys . Yes , this title is there for Rafa ! Vamos !

    • Maria … I feel you may be on the wrong site. Perhaps you should visit the sites of the No. 1,2,3 you have listed. Personally, I find your analysis annoying. Vamos Rafa.
