Thiem has been defeated in four sets including being bageled in the last one. Sadly Kyrgios is through.
I was feeling really hopeful when Kyrgios lost the 4th set 6-1. Oh well. I can’t believe Dominic, Sascha and Stef have all lost in the first round. Rafa, Roger and Nole will still be winning all the Grand Slam events when they’re in their 90s at this rate – the younger guys can’t seem to get their acts together on the biggest stages.

The reason for court 1 is that his second match (very tough Kyrgios )will be on Centre…. the first time Rafa plays centre this year and everyone who understands tennis (ex-professionals/commentators etc) know that it takes a while to get used to the court conditions. If Wimbledon had put Rafa on centre fir his first match he would naturally feel more comfortable than he is going to be. Wimbledon making it tougher fir Rafa yet again. Even if Djokovic and fed do play 1 match on No 1 they will be further into the tournament…… and all their opponents are ‘easier’ anyway!!!
I’m just 1 person and 1 TV but unless Djoker of Fed is playing Rafa-I won’t watch them. This for me has been since last Wimbledon. I’ve talked to other people who surprisingly are boycotting their matches, too. It will never matter to them or their fortunes but it matters to me.
Me too. I decided last year that I lost all my respect to this touring and will not watch it.
It will be interesting to see if Roger and Novak assigned to Court 1 this year . If fairness prevails , they should be but fairness and Wimbledon not really tuned into one another .

I think they’re desperately trying to avoid a sexism row, after the arguments over the French Open SFs! Four of the six matches on the two show courts tomorrow are women’s matches, rather than three of each – and Rafa’s on Court 1 so Serena can be on Centre … which is fair enough, given everything Serena’s done for the game, but I think it’s a bit off that Maria Sharapova gets to be on Court 2, rather than Garbi or Petra.
I am so tired of Wimbledon, year by year the same. Court 1, really?
