Roland Garros 2019: How good is Rafael Nadal’s draw?

Singles draw has been made for the second Grand Slam event of the season, the Roland Garros, taking place in Paris, from May 27 to June 10.

Eleven-time champion Rafael Nadal will play in the first round against a qualifier, and then face the winner of qualifier-qualifier.

In the third round, Rafa could meet Belgian David Goffin before a clash with Nikoloz Basilashvili, who he has beaten convincingly in their two clay matches.

The projected quarter-finals set up a match with Kei Nishikori and a semi-final against Roger Federer.

  1. Good draw for Rafa but waiting to see who the qualifiers are. Wishing Rafa all the best in his quest for #12.

    RAFAMAZING ROCKS

  2. Like I wrote a couple of weeks ago you are the best GOAT and you proved on Sunday when you’re aggressive n determined nobody can stop you Vamos Rafa!

  3. I agree with the posters that this is a good draft on paper. We all know there will be upsets. I thought Rafa had a tough draw in Rome but then Thiem and Roger went out. If Rafa plays like he did in the first set of the final, no one can beat him. .

  4. Rafa your draw is good just remember you have to stay very aggressive in each match I know you can win trophy 12th time best of luck

    • My like is the 12th like. Hoping this is a good omen. Praying that Nadal has got rid of the monkey on his back( Djokovic) Looking forward to seeing him lift that trophy and making it 18 grand slams.
( 18 is my birth date) Go Rafa go.

  5. It is theoretically good. So is Djokovic’s. In the second quarter, Thiem v Delpo would make a great match if it happens. The third quarter is very interesting – Tsitsipas, Stan, Diego, Fed and and some other very good clay players like Cecchinato and Berrettini.

I was dreading Rafa getting Kyrgios is the first round, very glad it’s not him. Let’s see who the qualifiers are… As always, one match at a time and good luck Rafa!

  6. Rafa has a good draw. Good luck for a fantastic tournament! It would be a wonderful 🎁 to celebrate his 33rd birthday!🎊🎉🥳

  7. This is a very respectable draw for Rafa… should be very doable … Coming off a victory in Rome was just what he needed as his whole persona is lighter, happier, calmer and comfortable!! They love him there and he knows it and feels it. Chop wood Rafa… one match at a time!!

    VAMOS RAFA!!!

  8. I have a question for you guys, I will be in Paris to watch the RG, being ranked #2, do you think he’s playing on the first or second day?

    • I don’t think it would be the first day because his opponent is between two qualifiers. These two players will have to play first before meeting Rafa.

    • Sorry about my reply earlier, never mind, I just remember top players don’t get a bye in a grand slam.

      • I should have said Monday or Tuesday. I’ve never seen him playing on Tuesday.

    • I don’t know for sure, but I’ve read that it’s Monday or Tuesday. He played on Monday (2nd day) the last two years. Hope you get to see Rafa, and enjoy RG!

      • Yeah I’ve never seen playing on Tuesday. Now I’m hoping I get to see him in action.

  9. Hard to say until we know who the qualifiers are! But I’ve certainly seen much worse draws. I’m not going to think about the semis yet, but I think I prefer Roger or Stef to Dominic.

  10. That’s as good a draw as Rafans can ask for! You gotta play somebody in the semis and I prefer Fed/Tsitsi to Theim/Delpo!

    Vamos Champion!

  11. Looks good to me! Doesn’t matter who Rafa faces, he’s gonna be dialed in!

Let’s go Rafa! Bring that bacon back to Africa baby! Yea that makes no sense I know:)

  12. Okay draw but Rafa is never complacent . One match at a time. How charming was he on stage and spoke in French . He looked so happy and rarely does the French media rise to greet anyone. They did for Rafa .
    Vamos Rafa ❤️💛🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

  13. You have too play the way you do it.remember you are the King of Clay vamossssssssss champ ,good luck in French Open 💪💪💪🎾🎾🎾😘😘😘👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘💪🎾❤️😘❤️

  14. Seems a good draw. Hope Rafa will find his pace in the first two rounds to be at 101% in the second week! Vamos champ!

  15. This is a good draw. Goffin can be dangerous and so can Kei, but neither in great form so far I think.
