Match time: Not before 4 PM local time / 10 AM EDT –  New York, Montreal /  3 PM BST – United Kingdom / 4 PM CEST – Spain, France, Germany, Italy / midnight AEST – Melbourne. To convert to your local time, use this website.

Rafa holds an 8-3 lead over Thiem, but the Austrian is the only player to have beaten Nadal on clay the past two seasons (2018 Madrid, 2017 Rome). Thiem also pushed our champ to five sets during their epic US Open quarter-final last year.

I’m feeling better in my game, and hope to keep improving here at home. I’ve played two good matches here after my first. The confidence is growing – and victories certainly help. My game is coming together now.

Thiem on playing Rafa:

It’s always one of the biggest challenges possible in tennis to play Rafa on clay, to play him at the tournament which he won already 11 times, with his own crowd in the back, with his Spanish crowd. So it’s going to be unbelievably tough. But we had great matches in the past, and I think we are both playing quite well so I hope that’s the same case tomorrow, and I think we can expect a good match.

The World No. 2 is 22-0 in matches and 46-1 in sets during the Barcelona semi-final and final rounds combined.

  1. From Zambia, your number one fan here has your back covered and keeping the rest of the nation updated. It’s just amazing watching you do your thing especially on clay. Go get him as we progress towards another historical records breaking on AT&T Tour

  2. Aww bless my champ… His game is coming together. That’s scary for everyone else.

Thinking of Thiem gives me goosebumps, what with that US Open performance against Rafa. The first set of that match was just out of this world. Of course, Rafa found a way in the end, which just says volumes about our champ.

Bring it on Thiem! I say, candy from a baby 🙂 🙂
