If you are following Rafael Nadal all these years, you won’t be surprised with the demand he made after his victory against Jan-Lennard Struff at the Barcelona Open.
Before his on-court interview with Spanish TV, Rafa took his cell phone out of his bag momentarily. Why?
A few moments later during the interview with Alex Corretja, our champ explained that he texted his coaches Carlos Moya and Francis Roig, who were sat in his corner, and told them to set up a practice court immediately:
Yes, I want to train five minutes to catch pace. It is a match in which it is difficult to find a pleasant sensation.
Last year after his win over Grigor Dimitrov in Monte Carlo, he did the same thing. He explained that he just wanted to hit some forehands winners and added: “I did it a lot of times in my career”.
A champ in all ways. Good luck for today. Vamos Rafa <3
What a great champ and complete player. Good luck in final. Been a fan for many a years. So fun to watch on TV. My Mr Tennis
