  1. Yes Maria I think rafa will be ok. He’s hit some great shots as well. Raffy is asleep next to me. He’s frightened of a bagel and that I might squish him when stressed.

  2. Don’t worry Susie , Rafa has this match . I don’t know much about Mahut and have only seen him in doubles but I don’t think he will have the stamina to keep up with Rafa , maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part ,as Maria Siberia would say Hmn….. we will have to wait and see . Hope Raffy is watching and cheering his namesake on 🐱

  3. Hey Maria – Roger better not take the Monte Carlo crown from Rafa. That was well fought for and a great match. I’m sure Roger can survive without it. Rafa so far is not being as accurate as I’d like with his shots. But it’s early days

    • Susie, Fed hasn’t revealed his clay schedule yet. He waits until Miami is over to decide. Right now he and Nishikori are the only top ten players that aren’t scheduled to play MC.

I think if he wins Miami he will head straight to MC, utilising the momentum; if not he will skip it to prepare for Madrid. Most people think he will/should skip MC if he wins Miami though.

  4. Come on Rafa did deep this week there’s more at stake than i thought, the commentator’s have just said no one has picked up all the masters and if Roger wins in Monte Carlo he will have achieved it . Come on give it your all

  5. The 1001 is ON! Ready for the “ride” now LOL.

Good luck, Rafa. Hope to hear a lot of your Vamoses in this match.

    🍀🍀 🎾🎾💪💪🏆🏆 🇪🇸🇪🇸

  6. I never thought I’d say it but you may be right Vy about Nick. However I’ve been led to believe there were a few incidents in that match but not as bad as he usually is. One ivolving a ball boy and the other smashing a racquet – which by his standards is very tame indeed. Get ready everyone, it wont be long now.

  7. Okay so to prepare myself for probably another roller coaster ride tonight, I’ve just rewatched the hightlights from the Indian Wells QF 08 Rafa vs Blake match. Thrice!

What a match! A tight three-setter with very high quality tennis from both players. Highly recommended. 👍

Going into the match Rafa had just survived a 3 hour marathon against another then tough matchup for him called Tsonga while an in form Blake was still fresh after sweeping Gasquet aside in R16. Blake was the heavy favourite, had never lost against Rafa in their 3 previous meetings, one of which was the famous USO 05 match.

The match meant so much for Rafa as he finally resolved this Blake riddle, which generated so much talk back then. He clearly elated! 😁

Afterwards Rafa never looked back, winning all their meetings though it’s a bit strange they only played three more times after this match and Blake hadn’t retired until 2013.

Ahh sorry for the history class. I guess I’m still just too excited about a match that happened 9 years ago. Maybe it also has something to do with the fact that I still haven’t fully recovered from the Sunday bagel 😥, plus the worry about Rafa’s newest riddle called FedExpress.

Will try to read your lovely comments later, all Rafa fans. 😁

  8. Lol Maria. I didn’t even see it until I got in this evening but it was hilarious. Good ol’ Nick but Rafa does it his way and it’s the only way! Looking forward to tonight though . Going to get some dinner then going to settle in

  9. Susie, i had to laugh at that clip of Nick this morning, Rafa wasn’t the first thing that sprung to mind , I’m sure i have seen that move done by someone else wearing a white outfit , only the king himself ( not the king of clay) but Elvis Presley Lol

  10. Yes – I’m planning to watch them all Maria. But I suspect we’ll get a cross over between Roger’s match and Stan’s as I think they are on separate courts but can’t be sure. I’m glad rafa is 1st though.

  11. Hi Susie, hope you haven’t got anything planned tonight as we are in for a treat 3 great matches in a row Rafa then Roger and then Stan . Nick is playing in the early hours so that will be a red button match for me.oh commentator’s think this might be a tricky match for Rafa ,hope that’s not so .

  12. Maria – didn’t realise it was Stan’s birthday. Bless. Hope he has a good match then later and his wishes come true

  13. Oh Vy that video of nick is really amusing – just seen it now. Rafa is so much more spontaneous and it looks so more natural when he does this. Gave me a good laugh though. Mahut is a fabulous doubles player and knows a good few tricks. Everyone brace yourself for a good match. I doubt though it will be as stressful and tense as the last one….
    ….I hope?

    • Hi Susie, Maria and Mac. I’m glad the little Nick gif gave you some laugh. 😁

It’s hilarious and kind of cute at the same time if you notice how after doing the chainsaw motion he just freezes in an instant. It’s like he surprises himself that he has a Rafa inside him LOL.

Then at the end of the match when he’s up 5-2 in the TB, he plays a treat-for-the-eye point while GRUNTING at every hitting, which made me literally laugh out loud because unless my speaker is unreliable, which it isn’t, he sounds just like Rafa : )).

It’s clear now, he definitely can channel his inner Rafa at times. If he can do more regularly he will rise to the top very quickly I think.

Tennis is definitely more interesting with Nick! 😁
