Rafael Nadal was in the stands at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday to support his favorite football club.

A scrappy late finish by substitute Álvaro Morata earned Real Madrid a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao and sent Zinedine Zidane’s side to the top of La Liga.

Rafa said in the interview that watching football doesn’t make him tired and we are happy that our champ has got another chance to enjoy in Real Madrid’s victory.

Rafa also said:

I want to rest for a few days. I injured my wrist during the Madrid Open and I’ve only played without pain during the US Open.

Mentally I was feeling good but playing with the pain during all these months hasn’t helped.

  1. Just watched Djokovic lost to Cilic in Paris. Djokovic looked shaky, his movement and serve were visibly sub-par. It’s hard to be on the very top for such a long time. Rafa, rest up, heal, and come back stronger than ever!

  2. Enjoying my 2008 Wimbledon men’s final until rafa gets back into action. There are worse things to do with one’s time!

  3. Missing Rafa immensely, but have just watched little Spaniard David Ferrer’s match in Vienna Gosh what a little fighter shame he’s up against Murray next. Beverly you write so well , my thoughts exactly.

  4. I am happy to see him smiling and enjoying life outside the tennis court. I am sure he is very upset that he will miss the rest of the season – loss of many ranking points and the opportunity to play at the world tour finals where he did very well last year.
The decision to end his season early would not have come easily to him.

  5. Always with you Rafa .vamossssssssssss 🎾🎾🎾🎾🎾👍👍👍🐀❤️❤️🚙❤️❤️

  6. Lovely to see you enjoying one of your other passions in life , and just like everybody else you are entitled to a life outside the tennis courts. Take time out to relax and come back fighting in the New Year🎾

  7. It is posts like this one that make a fan even more sad. For it shows what is coming in the years a head. The near future will only bring us images of Nadal enjoying his life as former tennis pro. I bail out the minute he weakly retires.

    • I think you have already bailed out on Rafa, Jaybeer and have for some time. All tennis pros.reach a stage where they are no longer playing as well as before. Rafa is no exception. At 30 he is still not old but he has played professionally for the past 15 years, he has suffered many injuries and instead of looking at his losses we should also recall his many stunning victories and be thankful that we lived in the era of Rafael Nadal.
I don’t want to see him retire and I hope he can still thrill us on the court for a little while yet, even if his victories are not as many as we would like, but when he retires as long as he is happy I will be happy for him.
What Rafa decides to do in the future is up to him. We do not own him and have no right to tell him how to play, who should coach him and when to retire.
I also think that as fans we should show him some loyalty and not kick him when he is down because he did not make decisions that some fans thought he should. It is his life , he has a right to live it his way. He has given so much of that life to his fans over the years.
      Thank you, Rafa.

      • Rafa reached this stage at 28. 28-31 are often an athletes best years of his career. Athletes who become insecure as Nadal at this stage of their career are very, very exceptional. His mental strength has gone down hill in spectacular fashion.

  8. I knew he would be there… 🙂 Whenever he has some bandwidth he will be there supporting his favorite team. He is a loyal fan just like everyone of us.

And Rafa you do not have to explain why you are watching the game – as if we would scold you for not practicing hard. 🙂 You need to rest and be happy and relaxed! I am so happy for you. And I just cannot get enough of your beautiful smiles!

  9. A draw card wherever you go Rafa. Your wonderful personality n smiling face are a magnet for Cameras. You are a sensation worldwide. Such a thrill to see you n Roger together at the Opening of your Academy. The two of you seem to have a lot to laugh about – kidding each other! What a terrific team. Can’t wait to see you 2 play Doubles together next year. Vamos Rafael. Love n many blessings from your Aussie Abuela. 🏆👑😀😊😎
