… The following day, fans will be able to enjoy Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal, both playing during the Friday, March 27th day session. Nadal, a former finalists on three separate occasions, comes into the tournament in good form.

The 2015 Miami Open started with a bit of a scare, when No. 2 seed and fan favorite Rafael Nadal tripped during a hitting session with Grigor Dimitrov and fell to the court late Monday morning. He appeared to roll his left ankle, took off his shoe and sock, and walked off the court gingerly. But within an hour, there was no noticeable limp as he headed to his car in the parking lot. His press agent, Benito Perez Barbadillo, said Nadal was OK and expected to play later this week.

No. 2 seed Nadal, who currently tops the all-time leaderboard with 27 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles, will open against the winner of Sergiy Stakhovsky and countryman Nicolas Almagro, with a potential quarter-final clash against Tomas Berdych.

Why are we so desperate for the revival of The Rivalry? The illusion of our more innocent, happier days gone by, perhaps. “It is strange how we hold on to the pieces of the past while we wait for our futures,” YA author Ally Condie has offered. It isn’t really all that strange — at least not in this context. We look forward to another Federer-Nadal match-up precisely because it’s something from out of the past — but not quite something that’s ready for embalming. Just like our own youthful hopes and dreams. … In short, they still have the capacity for greatness. And for tennis fans of a certain age, nothing is greater than Federer and Nadal bringing out the best in one another.

Despite squandering three match points for his first loss to the 24-year-old Canadian, the World No. 3 said he takes many positives from a strong week in Indian Wells. … “I enjoyed the match. I enjoyed being on court. I enjoyed suffering with his serve. I enjoyed trying to be very focused with my serve all the time. I think I did well. I enjoyed the fact that I felt well with myself on court again.”

Rafael Nadal as The Hulk — Have you seen Nadal’s forearms? And his pants of questionable length that can tear if his thighs bulge through them? And the sometimes-unfortunate haircut? That’s not a bad choice at all, except for the fact that Nadal never seems to get annoyed, let alone get himself into a Hulk-like range.

Tournament Director Stephen Farrow was ecstatic at the news. “Rafa is one of the greatest tennis players of all time and he is universally popular, so this is fantastic news for the Aegon Championships and our spectators. We have stayed in contact with Rafa and his team over the years, and we always hoped he would return one day. To be able to add his name to an already strong field is a thrill, and we look forward to welcoming him back to The Queen’s Club in June.”
