After a straight sets victory over Kevin Anderson in Round 4, Rafael Nadal set the stage for a quarterfinal showdown with No. 7 seed Tomas Berdych at the Australian Open.
Date:Tuesday, January 27, 2015
Time:Rafa’s match is third on Rod Laver Arena in the morning session, so exact time depends on the how long the previous matches last.
Approximately 2:30pm local time (Melbourne), 4:30am CET (Spain, France, Germany, Italy), 3:30am GMT (United Kingdom), 10:30pm EST (Monday, Jan 27 – New York, Montreal). To convert to your local time, use this website.
Though Rafa owns an impressive 18-3 record over the Czech — he’s won their past 17 encounters — he is looking at his quarter-final match with a clean slate: “Doesn’t matter what happened in the past. It is a different story this time.”
Great job beating Anderson, but Rafa needs to play less passively/more aggressively to beat Berdych, who’s playing the best tennis of his career right now. He needs to hit the ball flatter, deeper, harder. Put more height on the ball to avoid all those unforced errors into the net. Go for your shots Rafa. Stop playing it safe. You can do it. VAMOS!!!
