Rafael Nadal after losing to Australian teenager Nick Kyrgios:
“When you have an opponent who decides to hit the ball really strong and serve like that you are in trouble. I don’t think that I played badly. I hadn’t seen him playing on the other surfaces, grass is only two three tournaments a year but when you serve that big you will always have a chance. I don’t know if he is a guy I will keep meeting the sport is a mental battle at a times, he has all the qualities but things are always a little easier when you are just arriving. When you are there for a while people start to see the negative things about your tennis. We will see if he can stay at the top level but I wish him all the best.”
“When you have nothing to lose you can play the way he did today. When you are playing in the last rounds, it is harder to hit 140 mph second serves. For him the next round for me the beach. My draw was not the best against a lot of players who cannot give you a chance to play very much. I am not upset that I lost today.”

A champion is someone who is able to get up after a crashing defeat, and go to win again. This is Rafael Nadal and this is a true mark of a champion!!! Watching Wimbledon 2014 is not gonna be the same without you. Enjoy the beach and your rest. You deserve it and see you at the US Open. Vaaaaamooooosss RAFA!!!!
As i said before i don’t mind u losing Wimbledon as long as you defeated Rosol, for me that was victory, conquering the man who is so full of air…i have watched ur matches even if it’s on the wee hours of dawn here in New Zealand…. Amazingly , ur match with Kyrgios didn’t upset me. You played very well and served very well. You are always a sight to behold/watch on the court. Anyway, mission accomplished-defeating our nemesis… Rest and enjoy your break…VAMOS!!!!!
I was sad you didn’t win but I can not falter you, this guy got so many points because of his strong, aggressive serve, and did not allow you to play at your best, I am sure it would have been different had there been long rallies in the match. you have had the toughest matches in this tournament and payed very well specially as you have played so little on gras the last two years.
Ahora a descansar, disfrutar de la playa y la familia que es tan importante para ti. Y a prepararte para el US open. Suerte y un abrazo

A well thought out analysis Rafa. Soderling beat you once, never to be heard from again.
Steve Darcis… well who is he… Lukas Rosol one time fluke…. I am not berating these guys efforts, just want to say it takes much more than one single defeat to become a world class player… top of that these guys are the ‘nothing to loose’ types who come for their 15 minutes of fame… But Rafa will always shine… his glory is not short lived… We are talking about Rafa the GOAT!!!
Go home enjoy a few weeks of summer, family, fun and down time with your loved ones… Come back feeling rested and ready to take on the hard courts and defend you masters and majors.
Best of Luck always and ALWAYS A RAFA fan!!!! 🙂
You have stated everything I’ve been wanting to say, THANK
YOU
I love Rafa Nadal. Win or lose HE IS THE MAN.He knows the game and he did fight. Thank you Rafa.Good luck for next tournament.lots of love and care.
Bad luck Rafa I have always watched your matches but this time I decided to have a miss at watching Wimbledon. I do not like the way they make the draw of course in Favor of their man. I do not believe number 3 in the world playing number 4 in the Quarter final.Have a good rest at see you at the US OPEN
Rafa has the toughest draw among the top 4. He managed to defeat Rosol which was a big victory. Though I am a bit disappointed but not overly upset, Enjoy your holiday Rafa and please show us more of your photos with your girlfriend Mary.
That’s why we love him so – always classy in defeat, always speaks the truth, always the philosopher – always seeing the big picture and accepting of it. How is it that WE fans are more upset?
May next year bring his 10th (???***!!) FO? How is that even possible. And then an extra week before the grass. Please just stay healthy so you can have 3-4 great years left.
Enjoy the well-earned vacation and come out strong, we’ll welcome you to the U.S.!!!!
RAFA U PLAYED REALLY WELL AT THIS WIMBLEDON AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO WATCH. HAVE THE REST THAT U DESERVE AFTER AN AMAZING RUN OVER THE LAST YEAR AND GET READY TO DEFEND THE US TITLE. VAMOS ALWAYS////

Don’t worry Rafa. This guy was just hitting the ball without any technical abilities. You did play well and we are v much satisfied with your performance. You will always be the greatest. Vamos Rafa!
Well I am very upset that you lost and now the rest of Wimbledon wont be the same!!!!! But you have a good attitude to your loss and go and enjoy the beach and have a well deserved rest. And I look forward to your next tournament. xxxxx
Great attitude, Rafa. I totally agree with you. Besides, it may be a blessing in disguise!
Who wants to wake up tomorrow and play another grueling match and possibly do damage
to your knees due to sub-par scheduling by the tournament sponsors with no day off. So unfair! Go enjoy some down time and relax for a change. You have nothing more to prove.
Beginner’s luck for Kyrigos.
As always gracious and realistic is our champion. Rafa for ever
i am upset Rafa – so sorry you lost – enjoy your time on the beach. He is a very good player and well done to him – kept hoping you would come back and win – sadly not to be
Good statement by Rafa. He’s right – especially about the draw. Kyrgios could have beaten any, of the top seeds today.
As always Rafa very down to earth. We will see if Kyrgios fufills his potential and goes on to consistently produce good results on all surfaces. At 19 Rafa won his first French Open – we will see what the future holds for Kyrgios. Rafa enjoy a well deserved rest with your friends and family. You have achieved so much – keep healthy.
