Top seed Rafael Nadal has put on another good performance at the 2014 Roland Garros, beating Andy Murray 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 to progress to his ninth final in ten years at the second Grand Slam event of the season. Rafa will look to win his ninth Coupe des Mousquetaires trophy on Sunday, when he faces Novak Djokovic.
Rafael Nadal speaking to ITV4: “As a kid it was my dream was to play here at Roland Garros, after 10 years of coming here to be playing in my ninth final is unbelievable. I want to thank everyone.”
On the final against Novak Djokovic: “He is an unbelievable opponent, it’s going to be a big, big challenge and I will have to be at my best to beat him. He will be full of confidence after winning in Rome but I think I am getting better day by day. I played some good stuff today so hopefully I can do that again.”
A little bit of history was achieved today with Rafael Nadal becoming the first man in the Open era to make nine appearances in the final of one Grand Slam, surpassing the record jointly held by Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras (both eight US Open finals) and Roger Federer (eight Wimbledon finals). Congratulations Rafa, you’re the best! The Champion for all Times!
Greetings from Vienna! Ingeborg
Vamos, Rafa! All the best in your final tomorrow. Bring all that heat, intensity and focus
to the match from the very beginning. I know you face such a tough opponent who is soooo
hungry for his 1st FO title. Remember you’re the one with the “eight” FO titles. Not him!!!
Whatever happens tomorrow you will always remain the king of clay and legendary
player on all other surfaces as well. You have been dominant in tennis for the past ten
wonderful and glorious years. You have nothing more to prove. So play inspired tennis as you have been. Novak is probably going to also try to dictate his shots from the
beginning. I’m sure he’ll put himself under exteme pressure to win this ONE title that’s
missing from his resume. You already have EIGHT of them. Remember how stellar you
were when you beat him at the 2013 US Open! Someone with 8 GS titles shouldn’t be the one to always be tested. It should be the opponent with none that needs to be tested and has something to prove!!!! Go Rafa Go!!!!!!
Adoro ver Rafael Nadal jogar. Ele tem um jogo impecável. Ele vai ser campeão. Em roland garros 2014. Bjus
Congratulazioni mio Campione!!!!! Grande Grande Grande!!!
Rafa you can smash Novak on Sunday or else he will have me to deal with,I will smash him myself
Good luck idol!!
I’ve never seen Rafa play better than he played today. He had his A-game for the entire match. He was hitting earlier, harder, flatter, deeper than he has all year. If he plays like that on Sunday, he’ll win in straight sets again, although the sets will be closer. Johnny Mac & Jim Courier are right – Rafa is the GOAT. He now has a combined head-to-head record in the slams of 23-7 versus Federer, Djokovic & Murray(8-2 versus Federer, 8-3 versus Djokovic, 7-2 versus Murray). No other male player in history has dominated his top rivals – 2 of whom are all-time greats – in big matches the way that Rafa has. VAMOS!!!
Thank you for your comments, Mitch. I really enjoy reading all of them. Vamos Rafa!
Just adding my two cents to the discussion. There’s way too much anti-Rafa nonsense on some of the other tennis websites, especially in the comment sections. Your site is a very welcome reprieve from all of that. I thank you too!
Well played today. I love to watch you play thanks to the tennis channel.just remember that I his is your court and game. The joker will not be able to have it no matter what. Play tough. God be with you.
Incredible Rafa Fantastic game – enjoy Sunday and WIN
Rafa, as usual beautiful. “Poetry In Motion”. Vamos Rafa. Again Djokovic. I noticed in your previous meetings, he goes down the far outside lines. Rest, practice, WIN, WIN, ON SUNDAY. BRING YOUR SUPER STYLE. Much love to a great human being and the best tennis player I have ever seen. You are Blessed. A fan always, Dawn
Yes Rafa you’ve proved equal to the challenge.your performance is absolutely fantastic & outstanding.your self confidence & trust has become formidable. Go on great champion. You’ll beat Djoke! Best of luck.
U have to be mentally tough against joker. As usual our prayers —- that u should create History by winning 9th RG & equalising Pete ‘s record of 14 Grand slams. See u on Sunday .
Go Rafa, play 3/4 as good as today Sunday, vamos!!!!!! Interesting to see the difference in commentators – watched the beginning of the match online via Eurosport since NBC’s coverage in US didn’t start ’til 11 AM EST. Every comment was about Andy, how great it was when he got a point or two.
Switched over to NBC and Johnny Mac was heaping praise on Rafa and stated once again that he believes he is the GOAT.
VAMOOOOOOOS RAFAAAAAAA you are the best my beby.
MONSTRUO!!!!! Hasta cuando nos vas a malcriar???!!! a tus fans
Whopper of a match against Murray. Loved it! Rafa came out like gangbusters and
controlled the entire match. Look forward to final on Sunday.
Vamos, Rafa – Way to roll!
Rafa has a lot on stake in the finals and given his killer instinct and his desire to lift his 9th trophy here, he will smash Nole out in the finals. History is irrelevant in sports and there fore it will hardly bother Rafa that Nole has beaten him this season and at Rome too. In a five setter match I will always put my money on Rafa. Vamos Rafaaaaa!!!
Easy semis for RAFA, sunday finals for the 9th tilte
Felicitaciones!!!!!ahora la copa😄😄😄😄😄
