PHOTOS: Rafael Nadal reaches the Rio Open final with victory over Pablo Andujar

Rafael Nadal defeated Pablo Andujar 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(10) to reach the Rio Open final, his third of the season. He will face Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, who upset second seed David Ferrer to reach the final.

The first set started out shaky for Rafa, as he was broken in the very first game. Andujar broke again and took the first set 6-2. Rafa roared to life in the second set, breaking Andujar early and taking the lead. Despite a few trials, Rafa took it at 6-3, taking the match into a decider. The third set started with service holds from both players, until Rafa took his chances and broke for 4-3. Andujar broke back and was back on serve, and the set went into an exciting tie breaker, with both sides saving match points. Rafa took the set 7-6(10).

A great victory for Rafa, and a chance to win his 62nd career title. Vamos, champion!

  3. +Once again, Congratulations Rafa. Great match. It would have been alot easier for you if your shots were not so short, and you were too far behind the baseline for too much of the match. You can’t do that Rafa. I’m telling you this because I care. I hope you read this post somehow. Anyway, so happy you won, I’ll be praying for you, and I also pray that your back heals completely. Love you, Marylynn.
