The tennis superstar Rafael Nadal is one of 12 athletes nominated for the 2013 United States Sports Academy Athlete of the Year.
The other contenders for the male athlete of the year award are Lionel Messi, Usain Bolt, Lebron James, Manny Pacquaio, Joe Flacco, Chris Froome, Wilson Kipsang, Todd Ligety, David Ortiz, Kohei Uchimura and Tiger Woods.
Winners are determined by a popular vote and polls are open from now on through December 20, 2013.
