Despite loss in Paris, Rafael Nadal bridges gap to year end No.1

Rafael Nadal lost his semifinal bid at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris to compatriot David Ferrer, 3-6, 7-5. This is his first loss to Ferrer since the Australian Open quarterfinals in 2011. Rafa’s next match is, incidentally, scheduled against Ferrer at the World Tour Finals in London next week. Ferrer played both sets consistently well, but Rafa had a large number of unforced errors. Rafa fought hard in the second set, taking it to 5-5 before being broken. Ferrer took the set at 7-5.

It’s time for Rafa to rest up and get a fresh start in London on Tuesday. Rafa only needs 306 points to secure Year End No. 1, which means that he must only win two Round Robin matches. We’re confident that he will. Rest up, Rafa! Vamos!

  1. HEY EVEN THO LOSS TO DAVID WAS DISAPPOINTING, YOU CAN STILL DO IT, JUST KEEP YOUR CHIN UP, AND GOOD LUCK IN LONDON NEXT WEEK, YOU ARE STILL A CHAMP, NO. 1 IN MY HEART, GREETINGS FROM A FAN IN SAN DIEGO, CA…….VAMOOSSSS RAFA!!

  2. The remaining points for Davis Cup have to be added onto Novak’s points which is 190 if Serbia win the final. so to be safe Rafa has to win 2 RR

  3. I believe, Rafa needs only 1 RR win. Which will take his ranking points to 12230.

    11670 + 360 (paris) + 200 (RR win) = 12230

Even if djokovic doesn’t lose any match till end of the year. He can have 11120 + 990 (Paris) = 12110.

  4. Cher Rafa,
Je suis triste, Mais tout ce que je souhaite c’est que Ferrer fasse crouler Djakovic demain. Tu gagneras`à Londres.

    Gatina.
